Purple Controller SMD LEDs
« on: September 14, 2009, 03:33:02 PM »
A customer of mine is having a problem with replacing the stock SMD in the PS3 controller with our purple/uv LEDs. I was wondering if anyone else has performed the swap and what they've found. I suspect there's not enough juice for the purple LEDs as they fire nicely at just over 3V. The customer assures me you get 3.7V through the stock SMDs - which I doubt as this would fry most LEDs you'd put there.
Any ideas, comments, workarounds?

I have swapped PS3 controller LED's with blue ones that run good at 3.2v and it was perfectly fine...

Wonder what the problem is then.
Anyone know what the voltage is across the stock LEDs? This could be justification to finally buy a PS3.
