PSP laptop

I found forklords psp design recently this summer. I was interested in doing it. Im planning on doing it, but with a different approach. Someone on a different forum, having to do with modding game consoles, suggested having the screen, the main motherboard, speakers and the UMD drive on the top; and extend the controls to the bottom half. This way I wouldnt have to worry about figuring out how forklord rigged the ffc on his designs. I want to know your guys opinion on the matter. I though of soldering wires the ports for the cables that wired the controls to the main mother board originally. Get another port exactly like the one on the main motherboard solder it to the end of those wires coming from each controller port and do it that way.

then it would be top heavy and fall over! you could just solder kynar wires from the screen connectors and direct wire to the screen which is probably what forklord did and then use a logic psp case to house the parts with some modification.

or buy a net book, it would be easier and have a higher resell value!

couldnt I just do the same thing as that from the controls. I think I am going to do it the original way that forklord did it. Would just soldering wires to the contacts on the fpc of the LCD and soldering them to the place where it usually goes?

Don't do it at all, its a waste of time. The is no point in doing it, unless you just want something to do

Well part of the reason I want to do it is because I am studying to be an engineer. SO this sort helps me out in that sense. Plus, I just wanna make my psp look distinguished against my friends psp's

There isnt much engineering in this project dude. its almost all in finding a way to extend the cable and thats mostly all the modding in it.

Well thats what electrical engineering is. We solve a problem and then make pcb and solder the parts to the pcb and test it until i works. Tomorrow in my elctrical engineering module we make a flash/ flash light thing. I know it doesnt sound like much but that is what electrical engineering is.

you might as well design your own console instead of trying to replicate a psp in laptop form :p.

So anyone got any suggestions? I was going to solder wires the to connector on the lcd screen hard wire it to the PSP. Only thing is, soldering wires to the connector end of the PSP lcd screen fpc; woudl I need to solder wires to the top and the bottom of the connector or just one or the other?

there are gold sections at the end of the connector you should solder to them and then to the respective clips on the motherboard if you really want to do this still.

Im doing this. I think it would be awesome to have a psp like this especially since no one else at my college I know does.

I've got a few more questions. Is it possible to use the components of a psp 1001 model with a psp 2001 model motherboard? or is there a way to upgrade the integrated 32mb memory on a psp 1001 motherboard to that of the psp 2001 (slim) motherboard?
