The PC board for the USB 2.0 High Speed daughter board just shipped to the PC
board maker. It will be back in about three weeks, then I will have prototypes to build.

News Flash:

Amtel has released a linux compatible chip with USB 2.0 High Speed built into the single
chip. It does full USB Host functions not just OTG specs.

I have ordered samples. We may be able to do a gen 2 with 3 chips only on a 1" by 2"
board with 4 USB Host ports on it.

This would bring the cost of the USB High Speed Host board in the $50 to $55 price range
including PC board.

Great I kinda thought it would evolve like this this amtel solution I think would be the best because it is nothing excesive just 3 chips on a PCB and maybe dome caps and resistors? so we could order the chips and make it ourselves?

For as cheap as I can have it made I will probably have the surface mount parts placed with the resistors and caps.

Any other hand installed parts a person will do themselves.

That way the cpu and memory chips can be tested and verified
running and that base OS installed so it is running when a person gets
it.

I am already working on the schematics for it.

Wow ok thats great but this also means we have to wait like another 6 months for the new board? I think this might be the final solution do you? Im ready to buy now if it isnt too many components I might order chips and make my own and maybe wire it in a slim so that the entire thing fits inside and still have the whole umd space for an HDD and other mods Im interrested to see what these schematics look like I want to make one.

No it means that certain people will get a board for testing in about 4 weeks

Please do not ask to be a tester as they have already been chosen, The people
know who they will be

I can't wait. Ever since I did my first PSP mod, I've wanted to put an Ipod hard drive in my PSP. That was almost 3 years ago. I've followed it on here since it started, and it finally looks like it will be working. Can't wait for you to release it to us.

Status update:

I got an email from the PC board maker and the prototype USB 2.0 High Speed daughter boards
should be finished this weekend. They will then ship to me in the mail and I should have
the prototypes at the end of next week.

It should take me about 1 week to build several for testing and get them out to the alpha testers.

We can see light at the end of the tunnel for the internal mass storage mod.

okay, heres my crazy ideas. how about using the nslu2 idea and putting the 1.8" HDD in the UMD drive slot. the only problem then is power right? well, why not buy a x2 battery pack and 4gb datel HDD, gut the HDD and put another battery in it to power the nslu2 and connected devices? then make an enclosure for the nslu2 and it's ready! also, with the extra space made by the battery and HDD enclosures, you could fit the 1.8" in the in front of the UMD, even letting you keeping the UMD drive in it.

before this i never knew about the cool multi-tasking nslu2 i ordered one of amazon after reading this tut just for the purpose of having large amount of memory on my psp's i followed every step and got usbhostfs running along with the extras you included and unslinged to my 120gb maxtor usb hdd and got the nethostfs working but nethostfs requires the pc to be on and running putty if putty is exited it no longer serves files wirelessly.

:#1:i congratulate you on your hard work and efforts and look forward to your final release of nethostfs. :hifive:

one question will you be releasing nethostfs 1.7 or the new one 2.1 for the compatability with irshell
only reason i can see to keep 1.7 is for hostcore but i strongly think irshell is better.

please release the beast..

Juice0187, Peace OUT

Holy crap. Any progress on this?

I'd love a device where you just plug a controller into the USB port, plug it into PSPs USB port, and it works with remotejoy

no, you're wrong. It's against the rules to bump an old topic. gr8npwrfl isn't active anymore. If you really want his attention, pm him.
