ITS ABOUT :censored:ING TIME!!!!!!!!
wow, I still cant believe I havent cracked this baby open yet. I got it December 26th 2008(lesson learned: never go to mall day after christmas) and never even removed the warrenty sticker.
Im not going full blown on this thing*right now*, but I am doing some small mods.

Mods to be done:
*Blu-Ray leds(like the ones on the front of the wii)
*4-8 blue leds giving a nice under-glow to the console
*Sickmods Fader chip
*Possible LED Swap

on the 4 pin jack to the right, the top pin is 5v, and the 2nd pin is ground(w00t for multimeters)

is that an 80GB? It looks really different compared to my 60GB on the inside, no card reader?

Yeah its the most recent 80GB(not slim) and it has no card readers

Did you take the front On/Off swtiches out too? i think there also missing

And I guess ur PS3 will be horizontal, the fader and blu-ray LEDs will look good then

Actually no, I keep it vertical lol. And also, what do you mean by on/off switches? there are two little bent metal things, that you can just touch while its open and it turns on, I guess the older PS3 worked differently, but these work by you being grounded I guess.

Ya thats what i ment the little metal spring things, did you remove the little board there on? or is it on the mobo now?

Cool a ps3 mod. Looking forward to getting to see this done. Maybe you want to add a couple usb ports in the back while your at it? Or even a memory card reader?

you know, I might just consider doing this, but since the PS3 is SOOOOOOOO easy to take apart, compared to the 360 it wont hurt to open back up later on.

add a usb hub inside and do that. That way you can have 3 in the front and 2 in the back. Or you can hook up a memory card reader and have 2 in front and 2 in back and a memory card reader somewhere else.

it doesnt look like you have to take the PS3 apart much at all to do this.

though i have a 60GB with media card reader

Im reviving this topic,
I have started modding it again =D...
Figured out a way to get the leds in the blu-ray drive SO im doing that currently, might add some leds behind the fan since my console is normally vertical. Might also add some leds to the grill on the top...
Post ideas here... If you post about making a PS logo on the side i will be mad at you
