Barnseys 360 worklog
« on: October 06, 2009, 11:36:34 AM »
just got my hands on another xbox :D
free xbox's ftw!!!

anyways,
when i turned it on for the first time it came up with 3rrod error code 0020
couldn't find a diagnostic, may just be me being blind :P
then i turned it on while holding the sync button accidentally and it worked :D
only problem is the dvd thing wont eject :/
i can here gears turning etc. but it sounds like its stuck.
it opens when i open it manually so i think its something wrong with the gears, any input on this would be great, thanks.

now onto my plans, im thinking:
red metallic paint
dual window
white cathodes
white trim
white rol
maybe the drive being flashed but im not sure i can talk about that here

i'll post pics of it in a sec

EDIT:
pics up

If you got the 3 rrod once sooner or later it will come back. Maybe you can add a fan or do the 12v mod trick. That might help. As far as the dvd drive you can get another drive and spoof it the new drive. Take a look at jungle flasher for a tut. Or you can try to buy the same drive and swith the baord? Can't wait to see the your end result..

i got a xbox for free eralier in the summer

the 0020 error is terrible
dont spend to much money on it
i fully moded mine fans paint lights but it breaks down every other week
so now it sits on a stack of magazines in its metal chasis and i heat it up when i want to use it for a lan party or something

if your really looking to mod an xbox get the newest board you can and then go for it

i ended up putting my fans and leds in my stock xbox

Get a VIA chipset sata controller.
Backup the firmware on the drive using JungleFlasher
Get a BenQ drive
Spoof the BenQ as the original drive and flash it with iX1.6 and the original key all using JungleFlasher.

Then you've got a fully working [quieter] drive that can even play backups.

0020 GPU Malfunction, similar to error 0102
0102 needs the xclamp fix, so I recommend trying that since it's pretty cheap.
