dumb*** needs some help troubleshooting
« on: October 28, 2009, 10:14:21 PM »
First off let me say i have a Jasper Motherboard.

I was testing a mod (LED Scan board... like KITT) on my xbox and didnt see a small bit of solder that jumped my 5v and ground on my PCB board (scan board NOT Xbox).

Well basically when I powered on the Xbox it now gives the 3 red lights.

I know this is because of my dumb*** and nothing to do with the GPU.

My question is.. am I lucky enough that there is a fuse of some kind that would have fried. If there is no fuse does anyone know what I might have fried so I can replace it?

If it helps below is a pic of my solder point where I am getting my 5v power. It is on the under side of the motherboard and on the front of the board. It was the only place I could find on the Jasper where the 5v turned off with with box.

Once again I already know im a dumb***

where exactly in this image did the solder fall onto and bridge the 5v and GND?

the short was on the PCB board I made not the xbox.

I pull the 5v power from the point shown and the ground from the #9 point under the power plug.

the solder points on the xbox are clean and the xbox has been working with the wires connected for the last week.

also here is a pic of the solder point from the top of the motherboard. there is no component at its location

Added:
basically is was as if i crossed the 5v and ground wires together

no fuse dude, start by removing what you installed and test the box, other than that, you may be SOL

Check the secondary code.
Power on the 360, and once the red ring comes on, hold down the sync button and hit eject 4 times and tell us the 4 digit code it gives.
We'll help you from there.

In the mean time, disconnect any mods like matt said and try to power it on. There's a chance you might just be drawing too much power from it.

Even tho I don't know a whole lot about modding, it sounds like he may have fried the motherboard maybe?

Im thinking I fried a resistor or something, just not sure how to find what got fired.

I have looked over the motherboard and there is no visible damage...(burn spots)

the error code is 4 4 2 2

will since there is no 4, 4=0 so its would the 0022 error which is Network Interface problem.

Which means...you may have fried the ethernet chip or (maybe?) the Southbridge.
