Gamertag Recover Errors?

My friend wanted got a 360 elite because his old xbox broke and he wanted to transfer his saves from his old 20gb to his new 120gb. He bought some weird transfer kit from china and attempted (And failed) transferring them. He gave them both to me (Along with the cord and cd he received) and ask me to transfer them. I tried to recover his gamertag to the 120 and it fails saying that there needs to be more space (93.4gb left on the drive). I tried recovering mine and it worked. I then took the 20 and tried recovering his to it and it worked flawlessly. I'm thinking that he got his profile halfway onto the 120 and corrupted something, but I'm not sure. Any ideas on how to fix it?

thats the first i have ever heard of somthing like this. all i can think that would do this is a curropt hardrive or somthing im not sure man thats pretty weird

Is there any way for me to be able to load a "fresh" partition onto it so that I can start over? I'm pretty sure he messed up partition 3 as that is where the user stuff is.

He didn't transfer it. He messed up the process somewhere.

try erasing the hardrive then recovering his gamerstag on it thats all i can think off. or transfer bit by bit to try to find ti idk =/ like i said i never heard of this before

I formatted the drive and it works. So much work for such a simple answer...
