LED Swap Dangerous on PSP Slim? (And My PSP 3000 Clone Project)

I blew my sound fuse doing an LED swap for the wifi LED with a blue 0805 LED. The LED lit up when I put the battery in, even when the PSP was turned off. When I turned the PSP on, the sound did not work. I bridged the sound fuse, so the sound works. What would happen if the same thing were to occur, but the sound fuse was already bridged? Would it fry the motherboard? Would the sound stop working? I want to do the LED swap with a green 0603 LED, but I am afraid of doing it.

It would not fry, it just turns the psp off. I tested it on a extra 2000, the psp mobo will still be fine

the safe bet would be to remove the bridge, do your work and then rebridge the fuse, however I find it odd that the fuse blew by changing the led, as for a fuse to blow it needs an inrush of current. Is there a chance you just damaged it from heat, and not technically blew it?

Thats odd it should have done that. You should be fine installing that 0603 led i done it several times never had issue doing it. As for sound blow out i had something like that i fixed by swapping out wifi/MS board this was in a phat of course.

Oh, I forgot to mention that this was on a slim. But why did the LED light up when I put the battery in even when the PSP was turned off?

It is a soft-modded pandora battery, but in my case, the wifi LED was glowing while the PSP was turned off. When you pop in a pandora, the PSP automatically turns on. I was thinking of making a 3000 clone out of the 2000, which has a TA-085v1 mobo, so it can make pandora batteries. It is the piano black PSP. I wanted to put a piano black PSP 3000 faceplate and UMD door on it, and I already have 3000 warranty stickers. I also wanted to put a 3000 button bar with the microphone into it and hard-wiring the mic to the headphone jack. Any tips on how to do this? And I'll go ahead and solder the wifi LED back on.

not the other kinds

I can't solder the wifi led back on until I get some 0603 LED's and a new soldering iron

Hmm that is weird..

Im going to take a big guess and say it was turned on when the battery was in because it was a sloppy solder job or the led was too big and bridged onto that giant ground plane right next to the solder spots.

Its its 0603 it should fit fine but make sure you don't drag solder onto the ground plane.
