Determining what the PSP is doing?
« on: December 12, 2009, 06:09:22 PM »
Do any of you guys know of anywhere on the motherboard (CPU perhaps??) or anywhere in general, that could be used in determining what the PSP is doing? Like, whether or not the OSK is up, if it's playing music, in a game, etc.

It can't be software.

If not, anyone know of any way this would be possible hardware based?

The only way i know of is either via software or via a Dev version psp but both are kinda tough.

I wouldn't want a dev version (obviously lol) so that's out...

Hmm. Do you think it could be done with a program running in the background or, like, a prx plugin?
I'd rather keep it stock OFW though. Yes, I know CFW isn't released but that's just a matter of time.

Oh yeah, another thing, is there a way to see what the PSP sends to the CPU? For example, when you press "a" or "b" on the OSK, can you tell what it sends using the hardware? Or is the CPU tracking every single button press and determining what button the cursor is on that way?
That data would need to be hijacked using hardware...

No clue what any of that meant.
Haha.

So no ideas on any way this could be possible?

if you just wanting to use them as like switches im sure you could use whatever trace controls the umd motor to determin if it is spinning up a game, as for music my guess would be to use a headphone port or the memory stick but some of these functions are used for multiple actions so it wont necercerily work. you need  to think about what is unique or what combination of things are uniquer about any one action

See, there's nothing for, say, the OSK then. But that will work for some things I had in mind. I didn't think about that.

Hopefully getting one in the near future (after selling some stuff and buying parts I need, leftover money will be pooled to buy a new psp go to work on) so I can look into this further.

Can anyone guess what I could possibly have in mind? Besides the painfully obvious one that everyone wants and I aim to deliver.
