okay wtf
« on: January 14, 2010, 09:57:33 PM »
This is driving me nuts.
I bought a dvi cable a while ago from Dx cuz my gpu had dvi outputs n my monitor had one too so i thought id go digital. Well when i got the cable i thought it was the wrong one because it didnt do anything when Ipluggd it in and it didnt look like it fit my card. well I just relized that it will work because the monitor has a dvi-d input and taht it what the cable is to, but the card has a dvi-i thing is though when I plug in the dvi cable all i get it my background, nothing else, just the backgreound, like no start menu are nothing. but then I can like plug in the vga cable with the adapter to my card and it works fine. WTF
Okay to make u understand better, the dvi-d cable is connected to the monitor and computer, however the vga is only connected to the computer, not the monitor, and when i unplug the vga it goes back to teh blank screeen saver. Also when i look at my monitor settings it ses it is in digital. So wtf, is it my drivers or what?

Thanks
Sorry for bad grammer or w/e i gotta go t bed/

Wow that's some trippy stuff...

As I understand it you have a DVI cable connecting your computer and monitor, the computer has DVI-I and the monitor has DVI-D. Now with this setup, all you see is the background.

Now when you connect a VGA cable to only the computer itself, everything works great, but when you unplug the VGA cable, it goes back to only the background.

Wow... that's a first for me. I'll think about it and get back to you if I come up with anything.

are you sure it's not acting as a second monitor or something?

Did it work? I'm not sure that's the issue but I wouldn't rule it out.

XfX 9600 Gt Alpha Dog edition.
When I get my paycheck at the end of the month I am going to buy another monitor so I think will fix the problem indefinitely. My card is just, confused lol
