I'm going to use my black buttons and drill out some of the plastic so that the letters on my ABYX buttons are illuminated. I can just glue the LEDs into the buttons, but what do I do with the wires? Do I need to cut little notches in the sides of the buttons for them to come out? It seems like just having them come out the bottom and sit between the button and the rubber pad would pinch it and make it kink pretty quickly.
Also, I gather that people who do this usually get power for these LEDs from the GBA port, because it has enough power to run them all. If I have four LEDs in the ABYX buttons, and four more in the d-pad, can I run them all from the GBA slot and still be able to play GBA alright? How many LEDs can you run from that point without losing function?
If someone who has done this mod could post some helpful tips I'd really appreciate it.
