Hey,
this is again about connecting a PS2 controller to the PSP. But something is different this time! YOU NEITHER HAVE TO MODIFY THE PSP NOR THE CONTROLLER. Just hook the (not yet developed) little black box to your PSP, plug in the PS2 controller, enable the plugin and start having fun. In a final version it's supposed to work like that:

It's still a WiP, the little black box still has no TV out and it's still a huge breadboard. The plugin also works very...eeer...baaad. Watch the videos:

At the moment I'm wondering whether this cable has the pins for TV out AND for the remote (I need both).

that cable has what your asking for

it is against acidmods rules to draw members from our site to yours. you only have one post here, and you are not asking questions, just promoting your mod and website. I will let it stay for now, but if its reported, I will have to take it down.

the thing is F00F00s mod includes modding the PSP AND the controller
that's what I'm trying to avoid
whatever, if u say linking my dev-blog (that isn't exactly anything that could make a user leave acidmods but provides some more information regarding the mod) is against the rules I'll of course remove the link

well, do I have to have a question? has, for example (to take someone everyone knows) Dark_AleX, to ask a question before he can provide a new CFW?
I always thought this board is about mods, and lives from the developing of new mods and hacks, not from people asking what resistor to use for a special LED...
but if you're not interested in some development it's okay, you as an administrator have to know what you want in your forum and what you don't want, I'm just a simple user with one post that isn't even a question...how stupid of me to think someone could be interested....

please by all means use acidmods as a work log, feel free to post any development articals you want. as long as its not an open forum post it up.

as for the cable, I was not usure if you were asking or stating.

is the controller that you use is the controller for the pc?

what connector did you use for it?

it's a normal Playstation2 controller
I still use the original Playstation connector, I bought an extention cable that I cut in two pieces and I'm using this as a jack
I can just use any PS2 controller I want without having to change it's hardware - it's plug and play :]

atm it's just a big electronic mess, but that's my connector: http://imgbox.de/users/public/images/q39787t198.jpg
I can push everything I need onto a 4x4cm (1.5"x1.5") pcb though

I don't have to modify the controller anymore.

you do need a CFW and a special plugin I'am working on atm though

I'm gonna post every information needed to build something like that as soon as it's no WiP anymore but a finished project
just to tell you, there's a µc on the board, so it's basically a little processor that has to be programmed using a programmer device, atm I'm using an ATmega8 programmed with ISP, actually any ATmega should work without having to (significantly) change the code

you don't have to write the program code on your own
that's what I am doing

what I mean by saying programming here is...eeer...like flashing the executable code into the µc (microcontroller)
it's not hard at all, the problem is just that u have to have the hardware that is at least a programmer device, a demo board (or a breadboard/other kind of board and a connector to the ISP pins), and the µc itself
the cheapest USB ISP (In System Programming) devices are about 30€ what is ~40$
of course u can use that thing as often as u want to, but I guess no one would spend the money to use it only once

need to get some more hardware (3.3V voltage regulators, µcs, cable, cristals, low current LEDs, a little box), then I'm able to make a prototype

those are extention cables for PS2 controller and have, of course, a jack and a plug
cut them in two pieces and you have a nice PS2 controller jack u can work with

it's an extention cable for the PSP's TV out thing
I will have to cut that in two pieces as well, and then I can connect everything to my µc :]

I'll fit everything in there, to have a professional look

the only thing that could go wrong now is that the PSP tv out cable thing doesn't have all the pins I need
oh, and I don't rly know how to cut the gaps into the box to fit the jacks in, but I'll solve this I guess

however, the things I ordered should arrive today or tomorrow :]

WORKS!!!!
I can play PSP on my tv using a PS2 controller...I guess this makes my PSP with the 333MHz CPU (same clock as PS2 huh?) a real game console...

So far have only really thought abhout doing it hardwired. But if your getting unmodded controllers work thats a much less labour intensive solusion. Also the pspgo is compatible with a dualshock 3. An expensive route, but super tidy.
The hardware solution has the benafit of using sevral controllers relatively easaly though, so I may stick wioth that so I can use nes/snes/atari controllers too. Would be a nicer package.
Keep us updated on any progress, itd rule to see this working nicely.

it already DOES work nicely
I can connect the box to my psp, the controller to my box and the box to the TV and then both TV out and PS2 controller works
there is only one little bug left in my PSP software, if the main thread is being resumed after the psp is turned on (when it was in suspend before) it freezes

I just switched to linux on my desktop, will go on coding after I installed the programms i need on my PC

this sounds awesome, why dont you sell a "Kit" in acidmods shop?
the Kit could include 1 pre-programmed ATmega chip, some resistors, some wires, etc.
