Xbox 360 controller not syncing
« on: March 09, 2010, 04:52:21 PM »
Ok i have done many trial and errors with xbox360 controllers not being able to sync with a console.  Is there any way to fix this problem?  For example, the rol spins as if it wants to sync, same as the xbox rol.  But the controller just does not sync.  If there is a solution to this please reply asap, i would really like to know how to fix this annoying problem. :eyebrow:

Hi, I had this same problem with 3 controllers and the below is quoted from RDC. He gave me this advice and I just replaced all of them and I had sucess. It synced. So, I am not really which was the culprit. This is a good start and it work. THe 80 pin was really hard to put back on after I got the old one off.
Good luck
I messed with one of those and ended up having to replace the MCU (the 80 pin QFP) to get it to sync up to a console. It could be the SIC chip or the EEPROM too though, the SOIC8 chips on the board, but the one I messed with those did nothing and the MCU had to be swapped to get it working, I even swapped the RF module but nope, it was the stinkin MCU. (This is quoted by RDC.)

And would be a posiblity to do a new sync button? You can see the traces on the board an will do it. Check the RDC´s diagrams

I hope this help you

my own experiance: I found out the hard way that if you have an hdmi console, and turn the xbox on without turning the tv on, the lights all come on spin etc, but the xbox dont actually boot until it recieves a signal from the tv, therefore it wont conect to the controller.

not sure if thats your problem or not, but it blew my mind and I spent over an hour or so turning it off and on trying to resinc, eventually my wife turned on the tv and everything worked. this is normal for those consoles. I felt silly.

Lol matt, i did the same thing.  But i have tried just about everything to get the controller to sync except replace the eprom.  I replace the sync button, lots of smd resistors, and transistors.  Well i have a awesome heat gun, but i need one of those little suction cup things so i can safely remove the eprom without tearing a bunch of stuff off with it. I was thinking about buying a reflow oven for like $300 on fleabay, but still not sure if i want to spend that much money yet.

I went to Walmart and bought a basic convention oven and use that as my reflow over. It works like a charm. I had to tweak it a bit to have hangeers in there for some things that needed to be reflowed. Otherwise, 25 bucks not a bad deal. Just doesn't have the infrared. I like it and has never done me wrong.
