Flexibility IS lost in one way, but gained in another. Being able to start up a game on the road or where ever you might be is quite nice, even if the performance isn't the worlds greatest.

tl;dr: what you lack in upgrade ability you gain in mobility

Right.

I'd say around £400 ($450-500).

Just remember

2.13 Ghz has to be overclocked (to 2.5 if possible)
Ram needs upgrade. DDR3 if it will take it.
9800m - not the best but since it's nvidia it's probably preoptimized.

To give you and idea what this is costing you, I'm going to show you the computer I'm gonna buy soon:

Monitor, HDMI 20 inch Full HD
ATI Powercolor 1GB
AMD ATHLON X2 (Modified) (overclocked to 3.0Ghz)
Kingston ValueRAM 2x1GB DDR3 1333Mhz
DVD DRIVE
ETC ETC EVERYTHING ELSE

FINAL PRICE: around £300 ($350-400)

If you're looking to have a good gaming laptop and have some money:

GO FOR THE DELL XPS!

The specs aren't too great. The 9800m isn't that amazing and won't perform at full resolution very well.
Flashing the 9800m BIOS to GTS won't increase any performance, either. The most I've heard of is 1-2FPS.

There's no such thing as safe overclocking on a laptop (if capable). Even if it runs without crashing, it's still not safe on a laptop.

It uses DDR2-800 which is terrible for a gaming laptop. The 4GB is good, but it's only 400MHz. That's pretty bad for gaming.
It even has a less-than-standard CPU clock. You want 2.2-2.4GHz MINIMUM for gaming (majority of games require 2.1GHz and that's the absolute minimum). The laptop is 2.13GHz.

My price is $300.
That's because of the price of the components in it. It's decent for it's time period, but it's worthless now.

I'm not comparing it to anything, I'm using my extensive knowledge of the components to base my post.

i didnt say anything about me being better at u on computers ok?

P consumes 25watts and T 30watts its compatible

because i was trying to sell this for $500 maybe 550 to a friend..

so yea lets leave this behind and move on because im not a person who argues. i am a person who is very friendly lol so we still friends right?

i just got a msg from acidmods.com that i was flaming and using inappropriate language. Sorry about that i wasnt thinking while typing when that happened.

Lol it's cool. I was just giving my opinion.
And it's not the TDP I'm thinking of, it's more along the lines of the Front Side Bus (one is 1066MHz [P series] and one is 800MHz [T series]).
Regardless, yeah it's good for late 2008. It's over a year old and with the new technology that's out, it's not really worth much at this point, that's all.

If you can sell this to him for $500-550, I give you a LOT of credit. Haha good luck with selling it.

What are you buying with the money? (not to get off topic or anything)

Looks good. See if you can upgrade to faster RAM but I think you'll be good with that. You're talking about the quad core one, right?

Core i5 430M, 520M, or Core i7 720QM. The processors I would recomend for a lappy to have. I have the 430M, and it runs GTA IV with 28-32 FPS on high settings.

RAM-Any speed under 1066 is automatically booted.

For your laptop, I would pay $400.
