ABXY help!

hi i followed an abxy light tutorial but had no luck as leds are always on wen controller is off, just wondering if anyone has another tutorial that shows me how to do it using a transistor, thanks

sounds like you using  a cg2/ or a matrix if you could identify the controller type we will be able to help you better.  here is a link on how to identify.

ok well im not sure of the technical terms but your controller does not shut off like the cg. You should try a optocoupler to make a  common ground so that when the controller is off the lights are off. im not sure if it would work on a matrix so some one else is gonna have to confirm it.

wire it like you would for cg, this wil make your leds shin at full brightness anyway. use an optocoupler as lax said to turn it off and on.

the only thing that needs to be changed is the + supply, which will go to the optocoupler now

what is a transistor? ive never used one before and is there a certain kind of transistor i have to use or just any?
