Controller Mic Contecctor Trouble.
« on: July 23, 2010, 04:07:35 AM »
Hey, looking for some help with the mic connectors an two CG board Wireless controllers. One is modded with RF, the other is not.

I know it is definitely the mic connector that is the problem.

The first controller gives no mic input or output. It does not detect the mic.
THe second with the RF gives of a constant buzzing but allows no other input or output. This one does detect the mic.

Thanks in advance :)

If you know the Headset connectors are the problem then replace them, otherwise it's the circuitry between them and/or the MCU that is causing the problem.

You'll need to compare them first off with a known working CG version board, or at least pics of one, to make sure no small SMT components are missing, damaged or bridged from the controllers being messed with.

Then compare a know working one to the damaged ones with the DMM to narrow down the source of the problem.

If it's the MCU there's really nothing you can do about that, and though I haven't seen one of those fail in that way before it doesn't rule it out as who knows what all has been done to those controllers.

Screwing up is one of the best learning tools, so long as the only thing you're not learning is how to screw up.

try a different mic, if it is fixed it is your mic. if it is not its your mic port. you can easily re solder it if there is a problem with the solder points or if not im sure they sell replacement mic parts you can unsolder the old bad one and replace it with the new good one.
