Microsoft has admitted that the kinect camera system due to be released this winter has fallen short of original patent expecataions for sign language support because of a 'cost-saving downgrade.
The twin cameras mounted on the front of the kinect system are at a 320x240 resolution, which is 'less quality than the system was developed with'.
While the sign language letdown affects a small number of users, more questions must be raised about the level f precision in control of the kinect camera.
Also in this report Microsoft hinted that they have not ruled out a second version with higher quality cameras.
