Wired Controller Rapid Fire
« on: October 18, 2010, 06:00:09 PM »
I asked this the other day if it was possible to Make a rapid fire wired xbox 360 controller. I got the answer from Toad that he did see why not. I have a rapid fire wireless controller , but i just happen to get a wired controller for nothing so thought i would give it a try. My other question is that a wireless controller runs on 3.3volts with AAA batties and with a wired controller is 5volts from USB. When the micro chip 12F683 is programmed with hex code is it programmed with 5volts or 3.3 volts? Do i need to strap it with a resistor or use a Regulate IC? or a Diode? Please help.
Thanks to all for your help in advance.  thanks again Toad for your quick response the other day.

dont worry about the additional voltage. wire it accordingly and see what happens, there are CG and matrix versions of the wired controller so make sure to get that part right.

as a matter of caution, I would hook it all up excpet the led. turn on the controller, turn on RF and test the voltage coming from the  RF chip led wire, then use the appropriate resistor for the stock led.

2.0-5.5V is pic operating voltage. (6.5V is absolute max rating)

make sure to use a resistor (~300ohm)  when connecting the pic to an LED because the source is 5V you can definately do damage to LEDs or PIC, unlike when using 3V from a wireless pad (which can also damage things but not as fast).

First  I want to thank you all for the reply. Well i just got done wiring up the controller did what you said and the voltage checked around 2.5 to 2.6 volts to leds. I used the flex rf and seemed to work added my own led that was 2.5 volts to 4.5 volts .2 colors in one Red and blue and flashes purple when both are lit for mode 4. Every thing seemed to be working but. when tried it on MW2 as soon as u go to the first mode it stays rapid fire with out pushing any buttons. 2nd mode it would rapid fireby pressing the right controller button. something is off haven't figure it out yet. Any suggestions? Its late . try again tomorrow. I am new at this and I dont give up easy...lol thanks again guys :hifive:

someone had the same problem and apperantly you need either to up the resistance or a resistor on the triggers

come to find out I have a Cl board  looked around couldn't find any Rapid fire for that board using the Flex rapid for for that board. I used that programed chip out of  my wireless . so will try something else, hopefully i find something that i can program and use with this board. I like the fact i  can use one button thats why i used the flex. hex for 12f683 chips. got 10 was cheaper to buy them that way. Any sugestions?

its firing randomly because of the resistance to the trigger pulls :)

i think u would need it to be a matrix flex.hex to work on tht pad.... as its not common ground its common live hence the name cl not cg..... tis worth a try anyhow.... i know most ofthe rf codes wrok fine on both types of wired pads.... jsut needs a bit of experementing to get it to do its thing....

ifi was at my desk at home n not in this castle in france i'd test one out for u quick and tell ya whats wat...... also i think the led wire needs to go to the opistite side of the led or somthing
like that.......

indeed or i think thats how its goes... i've not installed flex on a cl board but i have installed bmu and a few other codes..... which all had to be the matrix installs....

and dont forget the position of the led wire will change and the power and ground points are different..... ground is marked on the board in several places..... and the power i usually take it from where the power comes in on the wire (the red wire)

the voltage is different on the CL wired board controller gains voltage instead of losing voltage, I have had no luck .
