« on: November 15, 2010, 04:54:53 PM »
So i decided to work on somthing some new stuff. So i started working on this new pc. The pc will be built inside of an xbox 360 case and is going to be used as data storage and a pc i can leave on.

If you want more updates on this check out my blog, Also if you want to see higher res pictures go to my blog and click on the thumb nail of the picture because i didn't want to have to copy all those links..

    * Hard drive. 120g 2.5

Completely put together and running!
Completed Xbox 360 PC

FINISHED! The first startup!
Xbox 360 PC Start UP

Pictures.

Temp Tests
I might incorporate some more cooling into this thing just so it doesn't have any chances of it over heating because it is running hotter than i originally figured but its running stable right now with the cooling i have in it so for right now its fine. And this is with the case fully no before i was running it with the top off. ( This is also running after a couple hours ) -1/30/11-

Update 13. CPU CAME IN!
popped it in and its officially finished!

Update 12. Still waiting on a CPU, but put together.
Xbox 360 or PC hahah, I think PC!!!

Update 11. Finished Exsept for the CPU
Its all done all i need to do is get a cpu and pop it in and its done.

Update 10. Soooo close to finished!, Hard drive tray mounted.
I made a harddrive tray out of a piece of plexiglass and an L bracket And screwed it into the case.

Update 9.Case Cut to fit everything.
Case cut out enough so everything closes nice and also cut the back out for the motherboard ports, and for the power cable.
Its coming together nicely.

Update 8. PSU IN!
Got the psu screwed into the case. i took two of the screws out that hold the case of the psu togeather and they were to small to go through the whole case so i went into my screw pile and found some that fit perfect, they were t8 screws but they work fine.a After getting it in completely i noticed that i actually have my pci express slot not cover which i thought i was going to. So i acualy have space for a low profile Graphics card. That will be an update after its finished tho. Another thing that im going to have to do is inscress the length of the 4 pin that goes into the mobo because it doesn’t reach.. but that not to big of a problem.

Update 7. PSU here
Got the psu in the mail today and its pready awesome. IT couldn’t fit  anymore perfect so the measurements i took were correct

Update 6. So Far Everythings fitting
Everything has fit in the case so far and hopefully the last items that are put in it will work easily without modifications, but from the measurements iv done they should fit fine.

The Cpu heatsink fan had more than a half an inch from the top and with the cpu that im putting in that fine enuff air flow because the thing wont be getting hot anyways.

Update 5. Xbox PC Update 1/4/11
Glued in the plastic tray.

De-soldered the batter port off the mother board and added wires to lay it flat.

Drilled holes and mounted in the motherboard.

Soldered the power button and lights to the plugs and plugged them into the motherboard and then tied them down so there out of the way

Update 4. Xbox PC Update 1/3/11
Got some new parts for it and have been working on a way to mount the motherboard in without shorting it out.

New Parts

1g of ddr2 – Given to me by nick

100gb Hd

Work has been done on the casing its self, i cut a little of of it off and attempted to heat it up and pound it flat but that didn’t work so i made it straight again and just laid a thin piece of plastic over the bottom that the mother board will be screwed into.

only need  the psu and the cpu left to finish it, another $87 to go.

Update 3. ROL / Power switch finished
I wanted to keep the original power button and leds from the original xbox 360. So what i did was replace just the main power like with a red 0603 SMD led and soldered it on. I soldered some wires and cut some traces on the board and fit everything in nicely.

This leaves this board as the main power button as the power button, Middle light is power indication light and the 1-4 player lights are hard drive activated leds.

2nd Update.

1st update.

umm i haven't really got into much airflow on it because i was trying to keep the original xbox look. its only running a single core 45w so its not getting hot at all. its got about 3/4 inch from the top of the heat sink fan to the top of the case. the psu gets hotter than the cpu. haha so it will run fine without major airflow.

if someone was building one of these and trying to put parts that run hotter u can cut it the top and drill vents.

would this work with a old Pentium 4 1.4ghz as that has a small heatsink?
