Black Ops Double XP Weekend Confirmed

There are only a few days until Call of Duty: Black Ops’ first DLC map pack will hit the Xbox LIVE marketplace and if you’re one of the many waiting patiently for the release then you’ll be happy to know that a double XP weekend has been confirmed. The weekend will run through February 4th through to February 6th and will be available on all platforms.

The weekend was confirmed by Major Nelson during an interview with David Vonderhaar & Josh Olin on the latest episode of his podcast.

As Mr Olin says, the new map pack is available on Xbox 360 tomorrow (for 1,200 Microsoft Points), and for those who aren’t in the know (cave dwellers, etc), XP stands for ‘Experience Points’, which you’re awarded for killing opponents in the game and achieving certain goals. The more you have, the more weapons and perks you can buy.

took til almost 5 am est for the maps to drop... typical of the "midnight" release schedule.  glad i didnt stay up for it like past dlcs.

maps are mediocre, i dont think any of them will replace nuketown or firing range as my favorite maps.  It kindof pisses me off hearing them [treyark] talk about how they wanted to make these maps for a long time and then playing them and seeing that instead of using all the experience they have at making a great map that people would love, they went the route of the pompus rockstar who thinks people will actually enjoy their a capella love song album.

also wft treyarch?  no map pack play list?  I spent half my time last night playing new maps two times in a row and the other half playing old maps.  thats just lazy on their part, I just paid $15 friggin dollars and now im playing villa on hardcore free for all?  are u guys effin serious?  dont get me started on why on earth you added maps like villa and launch to free for all in the first place...

I like the maps, I just feel that they missed the mark.  The zip lines, sentry guns, and "reactive" ice bridges are cute and fun to play around with in the combat sim, but in real gameplay your better off just to avoid trying to be cute with any of those.

obviously activisions troubles with the COD series run much deeper then the infinity ward fiasco, the pay more for less model has been taken to a whole new level with this DLC.

i totally agree. they should make some specific playlists just for the map pack(s), similiar to what they did in mw2. but without sacrificing other playlists.

its worth the money just for ZOMBIES  its the best zombies yet you can get a black hole that sucks zombies in im 9000 in the world at zombies round 28 who can beat me

its good only if you play it frequently. its not worth your time if you dont play it that much.
my friend was #8 on the world-wide leaderboards. he got to round 40 by himself. (it was hours before the maps came out. hes a beast)

my evaluation did not include the zombie map.... i guess the first two zombie maps were alittle bit too lackluster for me to be excited about a new one.  There biggest downfall was getting too difficult too fast.


I will give it a go now after reading the positive reviews.  The idea of one person getting to level 40 by themself is much more appealling then getting messed up by dogs on level 10 everytime.
