Convert GBA files to GBC

I know it's maybe a stuppid idea, but wouls it be possible to convert .gba files to .gbc?

I assume you want to play backups on a DS flashcard that will play your GBC games.

most gba can play GBC carts...

what is the issue you are having..


GBC came before GBA...

there is also an emulator that plays gbc on gba called goomba

You read it wrong. - The user wants to turn a Game Boy Advance file into a Game Boy Color file. The only reason for this that I can think of is playing backups of my GBA games on a flash card that allows .GBC and not .GBA

That is the wrong way. The user wants to go from a game boy advanced game to a game boy color. The user wants to go backwards. Like playing a PS2 game on a PS1.

why would he want that there the same thing just .gba-gbc

well anyway the app he/she has to download does both ways if he needs tuts that site has them for both ways

TwisTtheTwiTcH is wright about the reason why I want to downgrade the GBA files to GBC.

I know it will not be possible to change GBA files to nds files. But I was thinking: the GBA was the successor of the GBC and it is possible to play GBC files on a nds (with an flashcard, without any other stuff),
so maybe someone made a way to downgrade GBA files.

I guess not

But maybe I was thinking too much outside the box, but I guess it would be very useful.

It depends on what card you have, but there are several that are for the DS that allow you to play GBA backups on them - since the DSi lacks the GBA slot.

Tbh, I don't think it would be possible. A GBA file might as well be written in cuneiform compared to GBC files. I don't think a GBA game would fit either.

simply put this is impossible to do 100% effectively using GBC hardware because file size and processor mismatch.   according to wikipedia a GBC runs a two mode 4-8Mhz, 8 bit processor.  the GBA runs at 16Mhz and uses a 32 bit processor.   The processor chips are extremely different and on the GBA hardware they both exist with the original GBC Z80 as a Co-processor with the GBA's arm processor.

GBC games use 8MB max

GBA games use 32MB max


I did not say it was impossible, however it would require a complete software port and many sacrifices would have to be made espeacially because you are going from a 240x160 pixel display with 512 colors to a 160x144 pixel display with 56 colors.   

The memory issues could be worked around...

A fair analogy would be a port of Xbox 360 to NDSi which happens all the time, however it fundamentally changes the game to the point where its not even the same game and requires full development studios to do it.
