The logic board is "married" (tech term) to your PS3s mainboard.There's a way to remarry a logic board to your mainboard - I haven't done it, but there's plenty of people who have. I can try and do some Google-fu and find something, but your best bet is to either find a tut or find someone who's done it who will make a tut for you.
Nice - so just pull that chip off your old board and drop it into the new logic board? Helluva lot faster than waiting for a 3.56 or god forbid, 3.60 downgraders.
I'm glad we could help, sometimes the chip can't handle high heat. Temperature is critical~remember that.

i have a broken bmd-001 logic board and have a spare bmd-002. looks different asit hasmore chips on. will this process work if i swap the chip over or does it have to bee the same model logic board?

ok soldered the other chip on anyway.yeh took lid off..no laser at all. will it still show a laser with no disk in it?
