snes controller pinout

don't know where else to post this but i need help finding the pin outs for this snes controller for the mod on the Nintendo ds lite

Well what exactly are you trying to mod? If you're going to add another button then you don't need pin outs.

Second, seriously? what do you need pinouts for? those traces are really big and super simple to follow, those things are pretty straight forward. if on the other hand you're looking for which traces lead to which wire on the cord, then we need both sides of the PCB and the end of the cord where it connects to the PCB. though you'd honestly be better off just using a multimeter and testing it all out yourself...

can you even do that? I thought the GBA port on the DS was for carts? if so that shouldn't have any connection to the controls (if it does then I apologize, I'm not a DS guy.)

You can run wires from the dpad and the buttons from the DS to a female connector that has enough pin holes and attach it somehow to the DS. Then cut the connector off the nes controller and find a male connector that matches the female for the ds to connect to the nes controller. You will probably have to run the wires/traces a little different for the nes controller. But it shouldnt be that hard.

OK so THIS PAGE should be all you need to make the proper connections. you're not going to be able to use the actual controller cord, you'll have to make your own. You'll have to desolder the chips and make all the proper connections or cut and clean traces and solder to them. NES/SNES controllers use shift registers to send signals to the unit and therefore the actual connectors have far fewer pins than there are buttons on the controllers...

If you need more help than that, post a pic of the back side of your controller board (where the chips are) and tomorrow I can draw up a connection diagram for your controller and DS...

there's no chips on the back this is a 3rd party controller there's only 2 resistors on the back

well there ya go then, THIS PICTURE should be all you need as it shows all the traces and which buttons they go to...

so i just connect all the negatives to 1 wire and then wire it to the ds

yeah you should be able to just clean up a spot on the ground plane, solder a wire to that and connect it to ground on the DS, then cut and clean each button trace on your SNES PCB and then connect wires to each of them and then connect them  to the positive side of each of the corresponding buttons on the DS...
