This is a POS scooter my friend and I picked up, we're gonna fix it up and get it inspected and road ready.

Summer project: Hes gonna paint it and everything and I'm going to do all the wiring.

Stuff to do:

- Strip it down and take it apart clean/restore everything that isn't broken
- Get rid of rust and old paint and paint it something like dark purple, along the lines of dark blue/black, or lime green.
- New chain and a better gear ratio
- Fresh Brake pads and better brake handles
- Needs a DC Motor controller, Battery, Brake lights, Turn signals, Digital speedometer/Battery meter
- Get it inspected

cannot wait to see this in full working pimped out order my son wants one but he is way to out of control so its a no no for awhile
come to the rite place if you kiss admins as they promote you to admin.

LOL i aint even gonna touch a weed wacker motor poopy 2 cycle engines are a waste of money, I would rather not have a loud thing on the scooter rather than a quiet electric motor. The motor is already there and it works.

I have an electric motor at work thats 24v and consumes 15amps and could kick any 40cc weed wacker engine's ass.

yes, however you wont be able to just stop at a gas station and charge up in a few seconds...

you could find something similar also...  4 stroke are becoming more popular!

OK this weekend im planning on getting the chassis sanded down, stripped, and sandblasted. I have pictures on my camera but my SDcard reader is busted (getting one this weekend). So more will be posted soon!...


BTW i picked the color lime green because that was the only good color Home Depot had.


DuctTape: The motor is a 12v POS motor (there no brand name for it, its just a motor LOL)

So your going to paint a silver base coat then put the lime green?

Yeah im just going to sand those first coats so its smooth then put a coat of silver on that and do the rest as green.

I think that will bring out the lime green more when you get it  all done, and have some depth to the color hope you like the results  :#1:

I de-rusted the handlebars with a bit of hydrochloric acid (nasty stuff but DAMN that works. it also cleaned the concrete it dripped on). The chrome came off with the rust but there's still a thin layer. The trick here is not to remove the nickel coating(acid will). so what im going to do next is take some steel rebar and reverse-electroplate the chrome off with an electrolyte bath of sodium hydroxide 0.5% and sodium carbonate 2% It should take about an hour to get all of the chrome off. This will produce toxic chromium salts that should be disposed properly but I will be using for chrome plating later after all of the excess water is evaporated.

Ordered some N-MOSFET transistors fleabay for the motor controller circuit. I designed the circuit pretty much from scratch and should operate full power at 90% Duty cycle PWM and the motor should not spin at 60% duty cycle PWM. The 555 timer can be tweaked with the trimpot on the inside and the throttle sits on the handlebars. I had put two of the IRF510 transistors in parallel so i could supply 10 Amps of current at peak operation to the motor continuously without fear of overheating. 1N4004 diodes are in reverse to protect the transistors and the rest of the circuits from large reverse voltage spikes when the motor turns into a generator as the scooter goes downhill. (The diode in parallel with the motor will have a chance at catching fire).

The old throttle piece does not work. Last time I measured it I read 7.8K ohms, the reliability of the measurement is negligible no worries there are plenty of spare 7.5K pots i can rip apart and put into the throttle's mechanism.

yep i would have to be on a steep hill or i would have to have enough momentum to keep going. It would slow me down pretty fast also.

What if it was clutched , so you used it like a "Jake brake"... an engine brake. so like going down hill and such it was used to charge and slow you down.

It's supposed to be clutched but the piece is dirty and it spins both ways sometimes. Once i clean it out it will work again.

If i have that piece fixed i won't have to worry about the motor turning into a generator and the problem takes care of itself.

I ment like a manual clutch, you would use like a brake handle. Truckers use whats called Jake brakes in big trucks, just an engine brake, in some hybrid cars they use regenerative breaking which is just the same thing only with electric motors they naturally want to be generators all you have do is regulate the current. I know you of all people should be able to regulate that current to charge when braking. Just an idea thats all. If the part you have wont work , might be something to look into replacing w a common manual clutch.
