Question about DS Lite with different housing

Does anyone know if the inner workings of a DS Lite and a DSi XL are similar enough that one could simply replace the innards of a DSi XL with that of a DS Lite? If the screens for the DSi XL can be connected to it, I would imagine one would just have to hold the smaller innards in place. I was thinking putting something inside to fill up that space, but that's for a different thread.

Long story short, I want to put a DS Lite in a DSi XL so I can have bigger screens, but more importantly, extra space on the inside.

EDIT: It has come to my attention that the DS Lite is about 0.3mm thicker than the DSi XL. Would the innards of the DS Lite still fit in the DSi XL's housing?

I also thought I'd ask about what would be better: trying to seal the holes in the DSi XL housing where the cameras are supposed to be and getting the DS Lite to use the power button instead of the switch, using the original DS housing, or just making a custom housing for the DS Lite?

this mod is not possible for what you are trying to achieve. if you think you can just take a dsi xl and plug the screens into a ds lite, you are going to waste much of your time.
