Apple sues Samsung for infringing intellectual property rights.



Apple - The creators of devices such as the iPod, iPhone, iPad and Mac have decided to sue Samsung for infringing intellectual property rights. Samsung was actually one of the few companies which hadn't been sued by Apple, until now anyway. In the last year and a half, Apple has sued HTC, Nokia, Google. Apple doesn't seem to have won anything yet!

Apple believes that Samsung’s Touchwiz UI is a direct copy of the UI present in the iPhone/iPod/iPad. In all honesty, they do have similarities - But they also have differences.

Apple has provided a list of the similariteis below:

- Clicking on an icon to open an app

- Touchscreen

- Icons

- Alignment in a square array

- Swipe motion to change screens

As most of us know all of these concepts were around on devices before Apple ever produced the iPhone!
So why is Apple making such a fuss about this?

And better yet Samsung was the company who manufactures the A4 processor on the iPhone!

So is Apple just scared that they will not be able to keep up with the compition in that field? Only time will tell.

yeh patent law etc is ridiculous but you can expect one company to stop unless they all do every company is as bad as each other heck there are companies out there who's sole purpose is to be patent :censored:s and just collect redundant patents so that they can sue companies for millions and make a quick buck

That is so true. it's like those commercials that ask if you've ever worn some product or had a surgery and had something stupid happen because of that surgery. And tell you that they can sue the company that makes the product or the doctor who did the surgery, for you, and get you money for it.

I see those all the time when watching the price is right with my grandparents.

(they have satalite but nothing really good ever comes on on Space or Spike anymore... Except Dr.Who! I love that show!  )

lol yeah - i was streaming a tv show from the usa the other day and one of those ads came on that was asking did your new born baby have any problems and was saying it may of been held wrong in the hospital or some bs like that and that they could sue for you.  it explains why on my insurance when i come to usa my medical bills are covered up to $5mil but my legal cover is up to $10mil

Im glad i live in canada cuz we have laws against suing company's or people for stupid reasons.

Although we have HUGE waiting lines for the hospitals at least it's free in a sense (although we pay for it in taxes lol)

Yup thats usually how it works. So i only go when i have spare time and a broken bone.

You are all forgetting something VERY important. Well before the iPHone and iPad heck even before anyone coined the term PDA, Apple mad products such as the Neton.... Which btw had a touch screen, icons, swiping screens etc.   Not even sure if Palm was around then. We ar talking 1992-1993


I would know I had one and still do, a Neton Message Pad 130.

Yes but the fact is that they are suing people who are using the same technologies as them which is just silly.

That's like the person who invented the rubber hose saying you cant make a rubber hose cuz it looks just like mine! But alas for Apple, if it doesn't have the same OS then it's not the same.
