I tried this today. There is one small thing you have to modify. There is a screw mount that gets in the way of the headphone jack. You take snips and cut it off. That's it. And since you can screw the motherboard in there anymore, you just take hot glue and glue it down..
The old trim fits perfect. The analog fits perfect. The motherboard. Everything.
So you CAN put a 2000 into a 3000. However if you were to do the opposite, I think there might be a couple more things you would have to modify.
