Light up Optimus Prime
« on: July 29, 2011, 08:17:56 PM »
For my sons birthday we got him an Optimus Prime transformer. Well he quickly realized his eye's glowed under a light and being he knew that daddy puts lights in stuff, he asked me to make it light up. So I thought about it and looked at it and said ok. And about 45 minutes later he has got one of the coolest Optimus Primes ever.
Here are my results. All parts are smd and the battery is 3 coin cells, but I will be cutting down the coin cells to 2 because of a size / fit problem. There is an smd momentary switch in the back of his head so if you press his head it hits the momentary switch on the back part.

Thanks guys, today during nap time , I am going to take one of the batteries out because the battery pack is to tall to let his head go down to transform.
Funny anecdote about this mod.. During the dremiling of Optimus's head , my son , says
"Dadda you watch out for Mac Prime's brain... oooh watch out..."(all nervous) (he calls optimus mac pirme.) He hovered over me watching making sure I did not mess up Optimus's brain.

 Thanks for the comments.
I try not to mod any of their toys unless they ask for something specific . I shared this to show there is more to modding then just controllers. I don't know about everybody else but I mod everything of mine in some way. My daughter recently has expressed interest in a purple light saber... thinking about converting the standard light saber , slide out one, to a purple light up. I don't think they make a purple one but I will.
