This is my second entry into the standout. This one I will be doing for my daughter Olivia. (Love you my lil modder)This has been a plan of mine for some time and unfortunatley I have been busy with other stuff . Well my daughters birthday is in early sept and I figured I should make her a new controller for her birthday.
I will be doing a PS3 controller in a SNES controller shell. I will be using the analog stick instead of the dpad to be able to still have most kids games able to be played. I will be placing purple and pink leds and back lighting some clear PS3 buttons (luckily fit right in the SNES only cut of extra tabs.)
Also I will be doing a disney princess theme for the graffix.
I used my phone to demo back lighting the ps3 buttons inside the SNES controller. BTW I have 2 of the SNES controllers , so I might do a second one for my son, maybe a transformers themed one.
Update: I went shopping and picked up some gems for the project. I just stuck them on to see how they would look. What do you guys think... I am going to be drilling out back light holes behind the gems, the button hearts will be molded into the clear buttons.
More goodies found and I think i got a lay out I am pleased with.
I might octagon this opening for the analog , or I might just cut out a circle not sure yet. An octagon would make it more like an 8 way joystick.
update some stuff out the molds...
This one is a clear button w a heart gem, this button goes inside the crown and acts as a home button
UPDATE Paint day...
I wet sanded the heck out of the original controller and gave it a coat of primer. I let that dry and wet sanded that real quick. Then I gave it a base coat of satin white Krylon Fusion.
Also I cut out the L&R logo's. I was going to mold new clear L&R buttons but I am out of molding matierial , so this will have to do. I will probably fill the holes w hot glue cause I am out of acrylic. IDK yet. IF I get more acrylic before I am ready to assemble then I'll pour some clear acrylic into the holes.
UPDATE Graffix on...
