New Krylon X METAL ANODIZED BLUE (FINISHED!!!!)

Well guys I have  been experimenting with alot of paints being that now I am painting some case mods, and many more to come, so with  this, I got this nasty looking gold case that someone had painted, and never  clear coated it so was finger printed up pretty bad, and the case is in pretty bad shape , will snap on to xbox 360 but is a pain in the ass to get off . So It  was sitting around and figured most i got to lose is about $ 5 bucks in a can of  paint .

1st  I sanded the gold of the best i could with a Rigid hand held  sander,
2nd Primed it up with some Rust Oluem automotive primer gray
3rd  Then sprayed a Rust Oluem Metalic SIlver base coart (got more on me  then the case)
4th Didnt wetsand the silver , tried but made a bigger mess so resprayed it again and let it dry for 2 days
5th Just about finished now , havent cleeared it yet, Sprayed with this KRYON X METAL Paint. more anodized look then anything or trasparent , got some runs in the back or bottom of the case but oh well will post pics when its dry.
6th gotta clear coat after

Reflection? what do you think? Didnt even have to clear it this paint has alot of  clear blended in with it,



FINISHED well gotta find a door in my goodies...lol

Comnments please they make red ,blue and purple in this X metal , havent seen green or yellow yet sure its out there .

Thanks guys got the case painted waiting for it to dry and its called "KRYLON X Metal" not metal x lol yea the pic dont do nothing compared towhat it looks like in person you will be very satisfied with it

Looks nice, where did you buy the paint from? Also, does it say its for all applications? or mainly for just metal?

I got it from wal-mart , said for metals and other things, but as you can see Its working on the plastic xbox case . I took a chance on it, seems to look awsome, shows some flaws but oh well still looks good enough for the purpose, next time I  will use a xbox case that  has no flaws in it thought the primer would of took care of it . PRIMER hid most but this case was  in really bad shape

EDIT: thats also why i sprayed the silver has metal flake in the silver and thought it would bond better, which is holding up good still need to clear it.

I used the purple anodized krylon on a retro "Devistor" from g1 Transformers costume for my oldest son. The purple is awesome. BTW great job Rodent ... Like the blue too.

Once again, this was a test to see if the paint would work, and it did, just sucks that I cant get a good pic to show it off might be looking to buying a better digital camera some time in the future,

No clear coat , just that paint right out of a rattle can it has a better reflection then my purple case  will show you

It looks awesome, but how does the paint hold up?  If you don't use clear, is it scratch resistant? I want to try this out, but I don't want to not be able to handle my console

It has clear mixed into the paint more clear then color i think thats how they make it, so far its held up good, also when I screwed up the face plate it was a pain to  sand off, where the clear lifted the paint it was like a rubberized coating , pretty durable if you ask me.

Make sure you prep it good, I primed then wet sanded  then used a  silver base coat then the X-METAL paint

Nevbox just go halfords, or buy some plastikote paint, there just about the same thing. I'vew never had a problem with plastikote

I find the halforfs ranch over priced and the plasti-kote ranch ok, but it lacks stuff like this and if they do sell it it will probably be in a 100ml can, but you just don't see paints like the one rodent had above here and if you do at a huge price. I mean £8 for a 300ml can !?

But I really like Plasti-kote Super Gloss range , as it gives an unbeatable gloss with lacquer.

You have got to be joking, halfords paint is the most reasonably priced decent paint I can find, plastikote is stupidly over priced!

Yes you do find Plasti-kote in places like B&Q and diy shops, who will try and charge you £7-8 for a 400ml can, but I have recently found that the shop wilkinsons sell them for a much more reasonable £5 but there stock does vary and I think Screwfix sells it for a little more.

I will just give you a quick example of the price difference between halfords and plasti-kote

Adhesion Promoter
halfords: £8 for 300ml
Plastikote £7 for 400ml

I am not saying that Halfords paint is awful it's just it is quite over priced compared to other leading brands.

Not sure about the quality of the adhesion promoter I bought aswell I sanded it applied 2 coats of it (15mins between each coat) then 2 plasti-kote black matt ( 1 day)and then krystal clear and then checked on it after it had dried and it was all cracked :/

I think is you applied Clear coat it would ruin the finish

I didnt clear coat this , I tried to clear coat and made it pop twice as  much as it did now, but  two different paints didnt agree with each other and it messed the  face plate up in the proces of repainting the face plate had rain and  i paint outdoors so have to wait should get it painted up and finished today.
