Beware The Hidden Hackers!

In case you didn't already know, police forces across North America are warning the public of a new kind of hacking scam...




It seems that these people will call your house saying that they are a representative, of a reputable computer or software company. They will then inform you that they have detected that your computer has a "virus" in the system files of your OS database, and are willing to send a technician over to your house to remove the virus for you. All free of charge.

But in reality they are not in fact REMOVING a virus from your computer system files but are INSTALLING a virus onto your computer system files.

This virus when installed records all of your computer keyboard strokes to a hidden text file, and then sends this text file to an unknown address or email address. This allows them to record what site's you use and what your username and passwords are for the site you use.

But the more alarming fact is that if you shop online or bank online they then gain access to your Credit Cards, Online Bank Accounts, PayPal accounts and even your Social Insurance Number (SIN).

So the next time you receive a suspicious call or a call from a reputable software or computer company, remember this.

1 - Software companies WILL not call you about a virus on your computer or ANYTHING on your computer!

2 - If they say they are from Microsoft, just hang up the phone. Microsoft WILL NOT call you, nor do they even have a phone number to reach them at.

3 - If they ask for a Credit Card number. DO NOT GIVE IT!

4 - If they ask you for a postal code do not give it! (You would not believe what they can do with JUST a postal code)

5 - If the person on the other side if the line try's to guilt you into the offer, hang up the phone.

Remember these 5 simple rules and you will be ok.

But all the scarey stuff aside, the internet is a great place to learn and prosper and conduct your personal goals or business. Just remember to play it safe by protecting your Credit Card numbers or other sensitive information.

So the name for this is Social Engineering. Its Hacking 101 and if you study any docs on hacking it is the first method suggested to gain access. Simply ask for their passwords, nicely.

hhahahahahahahaha dude!!!!! ahahahhaha this happened to me! ahhaha lol some indian guy called me saying that My computer was infected and that they were from Microsoft and they could fix it. So i laughed so hard and i went along with it ahahha lol. then i quickly set up a VM with virgin XP PRo. He then tried to persuade me to install a vlc client and viruses... overall the conversation ended by him cussin me out and talking .... funny moment!

I'd shoot them with a taser as soon as they step on my property. Then I would hold them up for ransom for like a dollar, never negotiate, and constantly increase the ransom money to help expose the stupid bot net noobs who are behind this so they can be caught + get cash from the cops.

Yeah When I had my Old PC Shop I had one guy. They charged him 357 bucks to talk to a Phone rep then another 500 to have a tech do "virus removal" via remote desktop. then they installed "antiVirus software" (it was monitoring software) then charged him another 600 for a licenses fee for that software. the screwed him over they only refunded 12.99 which was the total fees of running his card thats it. lol Many things like this exist.
