sounds like a firmware problem.

if you have a Pandora battery and a magic memory stick i would suggest you do the following steps:

1 - Place Pandora battery into psp with Magic Memory Stick already inserted.

2 - Hold the assigned button to activate the magic memory stick (the most common is the "L" Trigger)

3 - Scroll through the menu and select "NAND Options"

4 - And then you want to select "Format Lflash" (This will manually format each of the PSP's Flash locations)

5 - Then once that is done, Go back in the menu and select "Shutdown"

6 - Once the psp is off, remove the battery and then place the battery back in.

7 - Press and hold the trigger button until you see the Pandora Screen again.

8 - Select "Install 5.00 M33"

9 - Allow the process to complete, then reboot

If you are still having troubles with your psp check that you do not have any plugins enabled in the recovery menu.

so you mean to say that your psp is slow while navigating through the xmb (theme menu)

I think you may have  set your cpu speed to a low setting.Hold select to open the vsh menu and adjust cpu clock speed from there

well dont forget since you flashed the psp it sets the CPU Speed back to default (222MHz) so by opening the VSH Menu you can adjust the CPU Speed up to 333 MHz. That will speed up your XMB Menu.

Also you said your theme is bright? It could be because your screen brightness before you flashed the psp was set to low. But when you flash the psp it sets the backround image to a white image, which is bright.  to change it go to your theme settings and choose a diffrent color.
