« on: February 27, 2012, 10:56:55 AM »
hello, i was reading hazer's post about the remappable six axis, then i seen someone else post saying he went the hard way and that u can remap most buttons without the soldering and just use a program?

all im trying to do really is remap my r1 and l1 to the same button.

there is not any no-solder method. Chuck has a petition with playstation to allow this for games with special needs, but i doubt sony will ever allow it.

its a tough mod, you cant have just a small portion of this mod. If your going to do it, you must do the whole thing.

good luck.

That's more of a Quick Scope or combo type thing and isn't at all like a ReMap. A ReMap is just swapping the button functions around, not combing them or pressing them in the correct order to pull off some glitch.

You could try using a 4066 switch IC to press them both at the same time, though if you're going for a a Q/S or some other glitch I doubt it will work or be as reliable as a PIC that is coded specifically for it.

i did this mod to a ebgames controller but the insides were way different then a six axis, the r1 and l1 in the ebgames controller was chip boards and i simply wired it together and it was pulling off good quickscopes, problem is sixaxis has the sisterboard for the l1 r1 buttons, so i was wondering so i wire the sisterboard connections or the motherboard TP chips together?

Noting should be wired together for button pressing in the official PS3 controllers, they don't work a thing like other controllers, the lines need to be kept isolated from each other. You also can not solder on the Daughter board in the controller, as it's FPC like, you'll just melt it.

If you want to press L1 and R1 together on it you should use a Low Voltage 4066 switch IC (like the 74LVC4066, it's just an electronic SPST x 4 switch) and then wire each of the L1 and R1 buttons up to a switch in it via the main boards TP spots.

I can't say exactly which TP spots should be used, because I don't know which version of controller you have. So far Sony is up to 16 of them that I know of - http://forums.xbox-scene.com/index.php?showtopic=648322

Then you can wire some new button up to activate both of those 4066 switches at the same time. The 4066 IC will allow you to keep the L1 and R1 isolated from each other like they need to be, but still let you press both of them at the same time by pressing the new button.

Screwing up is one of the best learning tools, so long as the only thing you're not learning is how to screw up.

On ps3 controllers L1 and R1 are the same button just different comms. I like were rdc was going with this. I was messing with a comm switch a ways back. Something like that might work. The switch I was using was a 2 POLE 3 wire momentary. What this switch did was while unpressed let lead 1 and 2 connect when pressed it let pins 2 and 3 connect. I used the other pole for opposite wiring of comms. So the switch when pressed whould swap left side controls for right. Some thing similar could be used.

I dont want to hijack this thead but since we are talking about COD, i might as well ask.
Im wondering how i can route a extra O button to the back of my controller for easier knifing.
I couldnt really find a tutorial on it, most are for remapping, which I dont think is what I need. If anyone have information or a link to a tutorial, i greatly apprieciate it! Thank you

You can use whatever kind of switch you prefer, as long as it's a N.O. (Normally Open) and momentary type, and will fit. The 6 x 6 x 7mm Tact switch is one of the more commonly used ones.

One side of the switch gets wired to the O button line, the other side gets wired to the COM2 line. Which exact spots on the controller depend on the version of controller you have.

Hey man,
When re-mapping a button to the back (Like O for Drop-Shot) You mentioned that you must use the Com2 point in addition to the correct Via (for the recent boards)

Do you always use the Com2 as the second connection when remapping buttons to a tact switch? (IE: Triangle, Square, and X also?)
---> Is it the same for thumbsticks, and triggers too?

It depends on the button you wish to use as to what COM line gets used.

COM1 - Is for the D-pad, L1 and L2

COM2 - Is for X, O, [], /\, R1 and R2

COM3 - Is for L3, R3, Select and Start

Screwing up is one of the best learning tools, so long as the only thing you're not learning is how to screw up.
