psp go dual shock 3
« on: March 18, 2012, 05:51:31 PM »
I startred this today after brainstorm.

I am waiting on replacement lcd logic board for psp , this was my first mock up of the build.

the reason why...
The PSP now supports PS3 games through remote play on modded ps3's. The problem comes when you need dual analogs or 4 triggers. The psp go can connect to the dual shock 3 controller through Blue tooth. This gives the psp go full PS3 control.
I had some spare parts laying around that were allready cut up a lil. I just needed to do a lil more trimming. Also I used the bottom 2 screw holes on the back of the psp go to mount the go to the dual shock plastic button board. Next is a charge , data mod. I might use a usb hub inside where one of the batteries were. They now share a psp go battery. The dual shock can charge the psp go but to make this work you need to pair them. You need to connect both devices to your ps3 at the same time to sync the devices together. So either 2 usb ports or install a hub. using 1 cable to charge and do my syncing would be nice.

Enough rambling here's the demo vid.

Sample pics after epoxy...

After first coat of light weight filler. A lil sanding done.

Completed body work. Also you can see the button layout w dual shock PS button installed.

Gloss black Krylon fusion. Couple coats, no wet sanding yet. I can see my imperfections in my body work, But I think most will be gone after wet sand.

Wet sand and respray.

Fresh coats of clear. Not a big fan of the clear I used. But a lil wet sand and it will be sweet.

Gloss black w chrome trim. Probably white/clear buttons. PS button from dual shock fits nicely in nub hole on psp. I need the ps button on the dual shock to sync the controller to the psp. I need to order some more leds if I am going to back light anything.

I went back to work on this and both my psp go boards have what I think is blown back light fuse. The thing is almost impossible to get to. I will try and take pics later. I have 3 lcd's all confirmed working , no video output to any lcd from either board. 1 board I knew was blown. The second one blew while testing a new mod. I sorted the lcd metal case to something on the mobo. I cant even probe the fuse w/o removing some of the metal casing on the mobo.

I would love it if someone can confirm that the lcd back light fuse is the one labeled "F"?

Back at it.
I got both my go's back to 100% function. I also got a spare board that I will using for something completely awesome.
So I figured out a couple things but I still needed to figure out my triggers. I am going to be putting a power button for the psp where the analog stick was. I will be installing a tact switch for the ps button on the dual shock by the usb port to sync the controller. I still need to figure out if I am going to have headphone port and where. the only controls I am using from the dual shock are the sticks and the R2/L2 and the ps button for sync.
So onto my triggers. My original plan was to use some parts from the dual shock in the triggers and make them look like original sony's. But I can find the trigger parts that went to this shell, so I had to think of something else. Well Toad and I have been talking about xbox triggers for the PS3. I figured let me see what I can do. This is what I came up with.

more detailed pics on triggers and head phone jack location. As well as 2 options for psp micro usb mod.

USB option 1

usb option 2

edit update:

mounted the headphone jack and power button for the psp. My plan is to desolder the ribbon cable from the head phone jack then extend it. Using the factory clip to connect to the psp. The power button will connect to the power switch. I all ways hated psp power switches. this will glow.
The triggers got their button pads mounted also. they are pressure sensitive.
The trigger wont be white btw.
In some of the pics I showed a white back plate. I used that so you could see the mounting place better. It will not be the back plate in the mod.

pics:

Rubber button removed to show pressure sensitive button pad.

not to rain on your parade or anything, but why not just use a ps2 dualshock 2 controller, instead of having to work around the triggers you could just tap the buttons. if i remember correctly
