cg2 power supply
« on: May 11, 2012, 07:14:31 PM »
So I am working on a mod for my controller, which happens to be a cg2.  Now I am trying to figure out how to make it turn off when my controller is off.  From my research on this site, along with a few others, I have found out that the power source near the headset plug is not switched, so my mod chip will always be on.  The solution that I always see is a optocoupler.  Now this is ok, but I would rather not have to go though the trouble.

Now, I also know that it is somehow possible to detect when the power is off, because I have a kit off of ebay from a while ago that will turn off when the controller is turned off, and the only parts on this mod are wire and the chip itself, nothing else.

So, how can I detect when my controller is off on a cg2 type controller

use the opto.
I would rather not have to add even more stuff to the inside of my controller when I know it is somehow possible to not have to.

But I just got an idea on how to make this work
