PC problems
« on: March 28, 2013, 06:13:55 AM »
So I had a xfx black edition 9800GTX nvidia based . It failed was under lifetime warranty. I sent it in for RMA. I get back an AMD hd 6750 . I tried looking up specs to see if its equivalent , I can only find out what it can do not what it has on board. Also whats up with this display port bs. My old card had dual dvi this one has dvi, hdmi and a display port , and of coarse no adapters were sent?
Any one with AMD info please chime in. This is my first AMD based machine. Will this have trouble integrating with my nvidia based xfx mother board?

exact model # HD-675X-ZDFR
They sent me a 44$ card back wtf is that? The 9800GTX was way more expensive.

I have an AMD 6850 Radeon The new port are for HD true vision for triple screen in 1080p/i. As for your MB all MB support any graphic but are limited to unlock potential of the graphic if not ready to support it. They don't give you adapter for the HDMI output only for the DVI to VGA. They Do make those HDMI to DVI or VGA adapter but are sold separately. They are also not to expensive unless you require 1meter then it goes up in price from there

I tried looking up specs to see if its equivalent , I can only find out what it can do not what it has on board.

Unlike Nvidia where you can gather information about the vast grpahic card, with AMD you have to look up the brand to get the information. My 6850 is by HIS, its an Iceq turbox 820Mhz core clock and 4400 memory clock 40nm 1Gb DDR5. Able to play witcher2 on mid low setting.

Thanks for your input man.
So xfx site is down for maintenance and I cant accesses my RMA to :censored: about this. Also this thing is a dual slot meaning once installed no other cards can be installed on my MB. this is just silly how can this be a fair replacement?

That is really a much better replacement. As for mobo being compatible you will be fine. If you are running an AMD cpu on that mobo then crossfire and all should work.

As for the ports, How many do you need? if you are running a single monitor then just grab a cheap adapter and you will be fine.

As for the dual slot, this is by far the better cooling method. Most cards today are dual slot due to cooling power required. Also I would check your power supply to make sure you have a 6 pin PCI power to spare. If I am not mistaken the 9800 ran off molex correct?

If you can make that work when it comes to space you are getting a GREAT deal. If not maybe check out an aftermarket cooling solution that will be single slot. I would say it would be well worth spending a few bucks on adapters and such tto get it to work VS the performance gain you will be recieving. Feel free to contact me again if you need some extra help.

After listening to you guys here , I believe it to be a better performing card. I am installing drivers and run some tests , then I will reinstall windows as I forgot I had problems with windows on this machine. Thanks guys for your input. I was a lil freaked when I seen amd not nvidia... hopefully it all works out.

windows test gave it a 6.9 , I dont remember my old scores but its close.
