Soldering to PCB pads that flex cable connects to
« on: December 18, 2014, 08:01:30 PM »
Hi,

I already have my mod done for the xbox one and I've been trying do it for a PS4 controller for rapid fire with a PIC but I've been having trouble. I have been trying to scrape the black carbon off pad 18 for right trigger and solder a wire to it and test the signal. Strangely enough, just by soldering a wire to it, it will cause the right trigger to stop working completely. If I then desolder it and try again it will work again.

I cannot for the life of me figure out what is happening.

Any info?

Thanks

The X1 and DS4 Triggers don't work the same way at all, so any code made for the X1 will not work on the DS4.

Too much of anything between the flex and main board will cause the connections to be misaligned, and solder makes for a so-so contact material, so that could be part of the issue there.

Screwing up is one of the best learning tools, so long as the only thing you're not learning is how to screw up.
