1537 - Issue with MCU Board
« on: July 15, 2020, 07:07:33 AM »
Hello guys, Im having a problem with a MCU board, when I put my button board, the controller won't turn on and D23 on Button board being hot as :censored:, im already test with another MCU board and works fine.
Visually I don't see any problems on MCU, anyone can give me a start point to fix this problem?

Could just be some decoupling cap has shorted, could be some other component has died.

Take a benchtop PSU and inject 3.3v into the 3.3v rail of the MCU board alone and see what gets hot first. A thermal camera is nice for that kind of thing, but you can always use the good ole Q-tip and rubbing alcohol to find it as well.

The likelihood of that is lotto winning odds. All of those caps are most likely in parallel and only one of them, or anything else on that same line, has the actual short.
