PS4 Fat with HDMI traces issues
« on: December 02, 2020, 11:02:19 PM »
Hi everyone, I hope someone can help me on this.

I have a customer PS4 fat version that has a teared off HDMI Port. I put another one and made the trace fix on the pad missing. ALso Pin 14 pad was damaged but it is a NC (No Connection), not used by the port.

All check out ok, the pins are soldered, no shorts, the HDMI IC has no shorts but still I get black screen.

What else could be? I suspect I have used thicker cable to do the trace fix than I should?

Please help.

test every pin soldering  with a tweezer / try to move every pin sideways. its very hard to make full solder joint there without table preheater. and high frequency port like hdmi is very sensitive for poor soldering

Kinda looks like you ran it to the wrong via or scraped too far. It could also be a faulty hdmi controller chip. Cant really help you further than that.

The via is according to schematics published on the forums prior. Also it is visible that the trace goes there. All pins are checked and are soldered in place except the two with pad missing. As said,  one is bridged to the correct point and the other is not in use by the PS4 at all. I don't know if I should ground it thu.
The HDMI controller show no short at the under side . usually I would measure shorted capacitors there if that Panasonic IC was faulty. Right?

It IS used by the port since signal is transfered via twisted pairs, each connected to signal and ground

Then where should I connect the pin???

You should check de HDMI IC behind the board, and the continuity of that point with the IC. I've tested and the value its 0.440v
