xbox one controller 1537 u10 shorted and seriusly damage
« on: June 02, 2021, 03:11:12 PM »
In practice a friend brought me an xbox one controller that like mine does not work the rt button, but the zone of the u10 seems to be completely destroyed ... hall sensor then seems to have received a short not indifferent. Is it possible to fix it in your opinion or is it better to buy a spare board?

Damage looks more mechanical to me, like a screw was stuck to the magnet and the Trigger was still pulled a bunch of times. C33 there isn't really required, just make sure that trace is still good so the Hall can get power. If it's dead replace it, no reason to scrap the board from what I can see there.

Ok...from 3 days I will be delivered both hall sensor spare parts and a broken xbox one controller that has the upper 1697 board and the lower 1537 board ... at the limit I can fix a controller

Can if you want, it's not really going to work any better or worse without it.

No the problem was another, in practice in the assembly I did not push well between the connectors of the boards and in fact if I squeezed them the problem disappeared, I disassembled and reassembled it and it was back in working order

The Triggers are pretty much contained on the MCU board, so having the top board not plugged in all the way would have caused far more issues than just the one Trigger that you worked on. There is still most likely a suspect solder joint somewhere if squeezing the boards together made it work again, as that caused the entire board to flex in places that you were not even directly pressing. It could have been some other type of short or issue that resolved itself taking it back apart again also, point is I'd keep an eye on that one for a little bit and test play on it awhile to make sure the issue doesn't show back up.

A question, if the hall sensors are not the problem, is there any particular resistor or capacitor that I should check?

I will try, but I noticed that the problem does not always arise, if I do not use it for hours the problem does not actived, but as soon as I use it for 2-3 minutes it starts to go crazy ..... very strange what do you say?
It gives me the impression that it behaves as if the MSU is getting a wrong voltage from the power board

After spending 3 hours with this controller with various attempts ... I tried to swap the hall sensors of rt lt, because I thought the hall sensor that I soldered to the rt was broken ... I was wrong even if I swapped them it did same mistake. While at lt it was ok. so i thought maybe u10 tracks are gone? could you tell me where those 3 pins are connected? or if maybe there is some area to check in particular?

The schematic for the 1537 is on the forums here.

Triggers work the same way and have the same component designations, they just run to spots on the BGA that you couldn't check. TP spots for the 1697 are in that thread also.

The problem is resistence R39, now my question is the resistence are 0402 value 100k or 100r?

R39 = 100. There is no k after the value in the schematic, so that means it is just the Ohms value, aka 100 = 100 Ohms. If it were 100 kilOhms, it would say 100k. ;)

i replaced the resistor and capacitor for rt and i heated the mcu, but it still doesn't work, now i was wondering if the problem was the traces of the 3 pins of the hall sensor. Where should I make the bridges?
