JDM-040 Missing components/Wont turn on and charge
« on: November 02, 2021, 01:32:05 PM »
I got a DS4 controller (JDM-040) that has been repaired several times but now it wont turn on.
The battery seems okay. It doesnt light with orange color when connected to USB.
Then I compared the board with PCB scans and found out that there are missing components.
I hope it still works.

Both missing components there are Resistors, 0201 size. Left one is 100k, Right one is 100 ohm.
Screwing up is one of the best learning tools, so long as the only thing you're not learning is how to screw up.

Thanks for the response!
By the way, is it okay if I use just a bit bigger size resistor?
Also, I'm trying to look for schematic for JDM-040 but I only found your post only for JDM-050.

You can use whatever size Resistor you want, but nothing is going to fit onto those pads correctly except the 0201 size, and the more you muck around with making something else try and fit the easier it will be to damage the pads/traces around there and then you'll be in for more 'fun' that just trying to solder in a couple of 0201 sized components.

The JDM-055 is the only DS4 board that I have made a schematic for. No idea if there is one floating around for the -040 or any other versions anywhere else or not. That kind of thing is tedious to say the least to do on your own.

I understand.

I fixed my XB1 controller last week after reading your thread about 1708 PCB Scans.
Thanks again.
