problem after analog replacement Xbox 1914
« on: March 30, 2023, 01:59:28 AM »
Hello. I replaced the analog in the pad and the right knob all the time up. I know it looks bad but it can be fixed. Might have a short circuit.

Solder in a jumper wire to connect the two red dots and retest.

nothing has changed. on the test it shows a tilt forward. almost to the end.

maybe there is a conclusion somewhere. I don't know. or there is no feeling in one of the pins.

A full tilt forward is no power to the Potentiometer, which doing the red jumper wire should have corrected. The only other thing that can do a full tilt forward is the middle pin (blue in the above image now) shorted to ground.

If the middle pin is open it could go anywhere. Try connecting the blue dots now and retest.

With a multimeter on what setting? The Continuity setting is not the best one to use as that will still beep at low ohm values, and that's not what you're looking for. Use Ohms, then also check the value between blue/violet.

Could also be that C23 (top side) is damaged and causing the RSY line to 'leak' to ground.

That's pretty close to a short, but not directly, unless your test leads have that much resistance in them? Also make sure you're not pushing on the stick at all while testing, they should be at the center resting position.

I'd check the test leads first, just short them together and see what they measure, if they are 1 ohm or less, then I'd remove C23 and test blue/violet again.

when I switch the multimeter to 200ohm, it shows 00.7 on the wires

No idea if you have removed C23 yet and retested or not.

How to deplete what? If you are asking how to remove the SMT Capacitor, then you can use a hot air rewwork station or a soldering iron.

Not a clue where it is stopping, so no idea what may or may not help there.
