xbox series x controller not turning on
« on: May 05, 2023, 02:29:47 AM »
I got my hands on this non working controller that does not turn on if plugged in and windows only tells not recognized device.
The only thing i saw was that there are some components missing.
Could any of them be the reason this controller does not turn on at all?

I can only make out 2 in that circle that are missing, C1 (larger one) and R40. Neither are going to make it not turn on, but R40 missing will cause one of the Rumble motors to not work.

More info on that 1914 board is here - https://acidmods.com/forum/index.php/topic,44711.0.html

the Capacitor right next to U26 is also missing as well as three Capacitors in the top left of the circle.

Again, none of those will make it not power up, unless there is some leftover bits of the Caps that are causing a short where they used to be.

Right under U1 there looks a bit buggered up also.

While measuring voltages i accidentally bridged the pads of the missing c10 and afterwards the controller worked until i unplugged and replugged it.

There is a mess under U1 in your pic there, right above where it has TP16 and TP20 on the board.

Most likely. It's just a 10k Pull-Up going to a pin of the MCU, but if that pin were floating (not connected to anything) hard to tell what it might do.
