JDM 055 drains battery while it is OFF
« on: December 31, 2023, 02:08:10 AM »
Hello there :hifive:

I have a Dualshock 4 (JDM 055 board) which have the problem to drain all the battery power even if It is off. I let the controller charge completely and it can be used normally, but when you turn off the PS4, the light on the controller turn off too but it looks like something inside is ON and drain the battery power. Next day the battery is completely empty even if the Dualshock 4 was not used.

I open the controller and everything looks fine. While the controller is charging, I touched every chip on the controller board and none of them feels like they are overheating. I tried with three different batteries and the result is the same.

Might need a thermal camera to see what is warmer than everything else as it will stick out like a sore thumb then. The S2PG001A chip is suspect though, as it handles all of the power management.
