1914 Stick replacement gone wrong
« on: July 20, 2026, 11:28:27 PM »
My controller had busted usb c port and drift on both sticks so i decided to replace them.Probably i messed it even more because i lifted some pads and they are not working properly.
Voltage one each pot is 0.4V
Residue on pot legs is from q-tips
Video of how controller behaves:

I desoldered pots and there are shorted pins on pcb(marked by red dots)
Any ideas?

Half of those marked spots are ground, the other half are the AN+ rail (power for the sticks), so if those are indeed shorted, the first thing I'd suspect is you have some solder or damage on one of the AN+ spots that is causing it to touch the ground plane. After that you're getting into the AN+ Regulator being bad.
Screwing up is one of the best learning tools, so long as the only thing you're not learning is how to screw up.
