Title: Wiredinput Installation Diagrams" RapidFire Dual Triggers Old/New Board Style"
Post by: KingMike_OS on August 01, 2008, 04:18:35 AM
Parts Needed :

 30 awg Kynar Wire (http://wiredinput.com/ShopUSA/product_info.php?cPath=23&products_id=601:)
2: Solder, soldering iron and paste (http://wiredinput.com/ShopUSA/index.php?cPath=23)
3: 9/64 drill bit "Home depot"
4: Hot Glue Gun and Glue "Home Depot"
5: 2 Tact Switches Button Height 7mm (http://wiredinput.com/ShopUSA/product_info.php?products_id=75&osCsid=792cf44ad5e96055d8a5c030568f02b4)
6: Torx #9 Security Bit  (http://wiredinput.com/ShopUSA/product_info.php?cPath=23&products_id=30)
7: Wire strippers "Home Depot"
8: Drill "Home Depot"

Parts Order from the website that installing should be One Of the Fallowing :

PIC 12F683  Old or New Style Controller Preprogram Dual Rapid Fire Triggers Chip Only Or
PIC 12F683   Kit PreWire and Switches Included Old or New Style Controller Preprogram Dual Rapid Fire Triggers

Now Need to Open Your Controller and see What Type of board you have Old or New Style
or you can tell from the back by removing the battary Pack. But Still Need to open it using
the Torx #9 Security Bit or the cheap way by breaking the middle pins and opening it that way
you can google that i'm not going to show you how. Why We Need to know what type of
controller model we have so we can install the Right Chip Or it won't work Right.
Now if you have a Wire Controller You out of luck i don't have one and i never tested.
But I'm Sure that should work But may need to put a 100k resistor  on the Power Pin 1 and
that should do the Trick. Everything else should be the same.

Here Images of both type of controller old and new :

Now that we know what type of board we have here the Digrams for The Colors on a PreWire chips and pin layout
People who just have a chip can wire yours the same way, And PreWires Less work for you Thanks to Me :
Please Check and make Sure The Wiring Match the Digrams [On PreWire Chips] So we Don't Have Any Problem Later
Just In Case I May Wire Diff Color To Diff Pin I'm only Human.  :yess:

You have 3 option here have to chose what you want to install

1. Rapid Fire On Right Trigger Only " Less Work  Only one hole and one switch"
2. Rapid Fire On Both Trigger  " Lot of work since have to install 2 switches and Glue Them"
3. Rapid Fire Sleeper Setup   " Easy No holes Very Clean No switch Needed"

I will show you all 3 ways installation and digrams Example :

Due to Problem With some of the recharge Pack We are installing all the chip in power saver option
Sleeper & With Switch.
Two Switch New Board Only Power Saver "Save Battery" :
This way the chip is only ON when the controller is ON & OFF to save power when the controller is OFF

Two Switch Old Board Only Power Saver "Save Battery" Thx GameRoms for Diagrams  :
This way the chip is only ON when the controller is ON & OFF to save power when the controller is OFF

Now Alot of people ask where should i put my chip will here are the 2 place i think is the best

Now Here the Fun Part So far Easy .. Installing your One Switch Or 2 switch

• For both the left and right buttons there is a small oval behind the support for the rumble motors that is leftover from the injection molding process. It is highlighted here in red [Image #2].  I put my holes just behind this and about 1/8th inch lower than the top of the oval. Placement of these buttons are really up to you. For the best fit and location you may want to hold a controller and find the natural resting place of your middle fingers. Once you find your location drill the holes with your 9/64th drill bit.
• Next take both of your buttons and we are going to remove one pair of legs because we only need one pair. Use the image so you know which legs to remove. [Image #1]• One at a time put the buttons in there holes and use hot glue to secure them in place. Do not attempt to use super glue or other adhesives as it will soak into the button mechanism and cause it to stop working. [Image #3]

For Wiring please Fallow The Digrams Above [One Switch Or Two Switch]  Remmeber the ground is Comon on the switch you can use pin 8 to grab the ground there or use where i mark next to the Mic Area i don't care pick one.

Remmber You don't have to use Tact Switches Button Height 7mm you can always Use  Red Button SPST Push button Switch (http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2062510&cp=&sr=1&origkw=Button&kw=button&parentPage=search) or Black one Like the Video Below.

Now For those of you who want to do Sleeper Setup like Video Below and Don't want any Switches its Clean and much faster.

<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/fFDEFt2AQ9Q&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/fFDEFt2AQ9Q&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object><object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/HU6-Ls8OSts&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/HU6-Ls8OSts&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

Here The Digram Sleeper "Old Style Controller Only" Power Saver :

the chip must be in dead bug position, in order to mount and close controller.

no it isnt, when its in the dead bug position pin 1 would be on the top right.

So when, I stand up the chip on the legs and the notch is at the top then, pin 1 is at the top left??

so correct if im wrong, but if i am doing the sleeper rapid fire --- i can either choose the power saver method or the normal method...

if i pick the power saver method (i dont know why anyone wouldnt cause its saving power) I am pretty much using the lower pins instead of the top ones??

so the lower pins use less power??

thx :victory:

Read through this and that other thread and finally had to register to say damn good job KingMike.  Hopefully the ebay noobs will take 5 min to learn that this is really a 10 min mod, but then again a fool and his money...

Also im putting in my order for a pair of chips.  I was wondering, Can i do a semi-sleeper mod and throw in a clicky switch between the ground?  That way in case i do want to turn it off i can, but still use triggers when i want to?

Can the 3 wire hook up or any way to hook up where you use the added toggle for your rapid fire and not the right trigger? I like the last stand perk so if im running with a m4 and go down i just use the added switch for rapid fire?

I just finished doing the sleeper mod for the old style but it didn't work when I pressed the sleeper button. Did I wire it right?

looks good make sure that your battery is above 2 volts or it wont work. check continuity if you have an ohm meter also your have to push the sync button to turn on right trigger rapid fire and push again to turn off.

Hi guys,

Is there a way to wire the sleeper setup for LT & RT? From the pictures it looks like the sleeper mode is only wired for RT (pin 2). Can I jumper pins 2 & 3 (soldering pins 6 & 7 accordingly) to get dual rapidfire for Halo 3? My chips are on thier way so haven't had a chance to test.

Thanks in advance.

working on something like that but  if you wire both trigger switches to the sync than both are on and both are off you don't have controll on each one. so when playing COD4 you have rapid on your aim as well.

is it possible to wire a led to indicate when rapid fire is on both tiggers? I can get it working on both idividually using pins 8 and 7, or 8 and 6. I only want to install one led to show that rapid is on either trigger.

Hey i like that idea. I it has to possible cuz if you place it where you have the sleep and once u turn the sleep off stops the current therefor the LED will also go off.

I thought I did everything perfect, but I go to try it and nothing happens? The buttons don't make it "rapid fire" you press the buttons and nothing happens.

The only thing I think I could have done wrong was the wiring to the buttons but I reversed the wiring and it still doesn't work.

Yup I was a little scared about the soldering but the kit made it so easy because the wires were soldered to the chip already. I also like the fact that the buttons dont do the rapid fire, it just turns it on and off. I have used others where the buttons is the rapid fire.

Very easy install. Thanks a lot.

Take king mikes advice and check the wiring on the chip because my black and blue wires were switched I caught it and it was no problem

just run a ground for each switch to the same point that the chip ground goes .. they all the same so they can be conected to each other ..
or you can run them one by one so you have 3 wire on ground one for the chip ground pin 8
one for the right switch ground and one for the left switch ground

Mike, thanks for all your help with my delivery the other day (this is Tom in Seattle), I appreciate it! I ordered a few more chips the other day!

A quick question on the ground. I have done 6 of these already and have soldered one wire to the ground point and to one pole on the switch. Then I soldered a wire from the same pole on the switch to the pin on the chip. I found it was easier to solder multiple wires to the switch instead of the board or the chip. THe mods work great! I use a different switch because I like the bigger buttons, here are a few pics of some of the controllers I have done. Most of them I just did the rapid fire on the right trigger.

How can I make the buttons be the rapid fire insted of the triggers with this chip. I want to make the controller work like in the first video where you have to keep pressed the left or right button to rapid fire and when released it stops.

I installed one with the triggers and it works awesome, I want to test how it works with the other configuration.

One crazy idea... what about being able to use the sync button to change the configuration between trigger rapid fire and button rapid fire.

Any help will be appreciated :)

Horay! So I have made all five kits that I have ordered from you, and they all work! I just have a few questions. When I use this in halo 3, it works great for the carbine and battlerifle and such, but there are videos where i makes the needler and ghost shoot much faster and have better accuracy. My needler gets more accurate, but also only shoots in pulses and sometime shoots fine but is slower than normal. Any reason for any of this. It works great in cod4 though!

I noticed the same thing. It must be that those chips on the videos where programmed by different people and the pulse rate is different. I have tried one of the chips that are sold on ebay and I found them to be much faster on things like the needler and the ghost but are not flexible on the installation and dont work well with important weapons like the Battle Rifle and the Assault rifle. Álso you can only use the buttons on the back of the controller, I have found no way to do a sleeper install or a trigger installation with those.

I love the flexibility the chips on AcidMods give me but it is a sad tradeoff to not be able to take advantage of those weapons on Halo 3 once you know what can actually be done.

In the process to fix that the new kits will have 3 modes .. so one mode will run COD4 Code and on other mode Halo 3
so they are not Conflicting with each others .. and mode 3 will be for other game.

In order to get dose guns fire Faster i need to lower therate of fire since halo 3 rate of fire is cap and coded in the game. buy doing that COD4 will be slower. ro FIx it each mode has its own rate of fire.

This is Still in the test Stage and ETA Unknown at this time.

Hey KingMike i received your 2nd chip that u sent me a few weeks ago, installed it and it works great.. Totally unsure about what happened with the first chip :S Anyways im really curious... this Halo 3 stuff you guys are discussing, how does it actually work in halo 3? the current rapidfire controller that i have doesnt really affect the BR except making it shoot right after it shoots the 3 br bursts?

Please elaborate :) (BTW i ordered one of these kits from you just to try it on another controller, i love modding these things, Electronics class got the best of me!!, KEEP UP the awesome work, this kind of things is just what my engineering classes are missing hehe)

For the "Sleeper" mod does it rapid fire both triggers or just one... i only want i t to rapid fire the right trigger. is there a wire i have to disconnect or is it already only one trigger.

ok bro very simple the black wire u just wire one wire from trigger to the other then u take another wire solder to the trigger and the same spot as the wire to the chip.

I'm new here, is there any way to wire the three wire kit to make it dual?  The way the 3 wire works now is rapid fire shots when you press the new switch on the bottom.  Can you add a switch for the left trigger and have it work in this way?  So whenever you press the new switches it shoots rapid fire?

Cant the kit you buy is a dual rapid fire on trigger so it will rapidfire on trigger when the switch is on and when is off the trigger is working as normal ..

now if you want it on the switch .. you need a 3 wire kit that kits is rapid fire on switch only.

Great guide, but i got a quick question.
i bought just the chip from the store and im wondering how to set it up so that the buttons engage rapid fire instead of the actual triggers. Are any of the guides this setup, i have the new and old controllers. Thanx in advance.

Hello KingMike_OS ,

is it possible to add an led indicator, so if i wanted to do that what pin on the chip would i solder to the negative pin of the led. I know i have seen this somewhere so was just wondering if you can maybe tell me or show.

Also thanks again for answering my questions when i had called earlier today.

I bought 2x prewire kits (Dual trigger) which i installed and are working fine. I also bought 3 chips and some tact switches.  I installed these on the new and old board dual rapid fire on the trigger power safe mode. I can't get them to work. They just fire normaly when i have the ground wire off and with the ground wire on the board it won't fire at all????

Maybe the chips are not the right ones? I bought them from Mike (acid mod). Thanks

I've been having some problems with this and I don't know why. I've wired them up exactly like in the diagrams.

First I did the deadbug matrix (http://i167.photobucket.com/albums/u136/kingmike_001/DEADBUGMATRIX1.jpg)
http://i86.photobucket.com/albums/k84/xportraits/mod/_MG_2603a.jpg (http://i86.photobucket.com/albums/k84/xportraits/mod/_MG_2603a.jpg)
http://i86.photobucket.com/albums/k84/xportraits/mod/_MG_2604a.jpg (http://i86.photobucket.com/albums/k84/xportraits/mod/_MG_2604a.jpg)
http://i86.photobucket.com/albums/k84/xportraits/mod/_MG_2605a.jpg (http://i86.photobucket.com/albums/k84/xportraits/mod/_MG_2605a.jpg)
http://i86.photobucket.com/albums/k84/xportraits/mod/_MG_2606a.jpg (http://i86.photobucket.com/albums/k84/xportraits/mod/_MG_2606a.jpg)
http://i86.photobucket.com/albums/k84/xportraits/mod/_MG_2608a.jpg (http://i86.photobucket.com/albums/k84/xportraits/mod/_MG_2608a.jpg)
The orange wire is on the right trigger, red is on the power on the left.. They look similar colour in these pics

Then I did Rapidfire on Right Trigger (http://i167.photobucket.com/albums/u136/kingmike_001/Digrams_01.png)
http://i86.photobucket.com/albums/k84/xportraits/mod/_MG_2610a.jpg (http://i86.photobucket.com/albums/k84/xportraits/mod/_MG_2610a.jpg)
http://i86.photobucket.com/albums/k84/xportraits/mod/_MG_2618a.jpg (http://i86.photobucket.com/albums/k84/xportraits/mod/_MG_2618a.jpg)

Either which one I do, I get absolutely no response. Is there a different power source I should use? Also, if it helps, this is the kit I ordered https://acidmods.com/ShopUSA/product_info.php?cPath=26&products_id=37 (https://acidmods.com/ShopUSA/product_info.php?cPath=26&products_id=37)

Thanks for any help

Can a 12f629 be used for this instead of the 683? I was comparing the two data sheets and they are not that different except the 629 has an internal 4mHz only oscillator, while the 683 has the ability to select a frequency between 8 MHz and 31 kHz. The pinouts seem to be the same, so I was just wondering if the code needs to be changed at all. If I recall correctly (and correct me if I'm wrong), the code doesn't even utilize the clock frequencies, rather it just turns on and off pins 2 and 3 at a set speed.
