Title: Sickmods Fader or fader deluxe
Post by: ApheX on November 02, 2008, 01:52:42 AM
Hello, i'm currently modding a psp phat for myself and i want to make a ROL using a fader. i've gone to sickmods.net to get a board and found two types, the fader and the fader deluxe (Click here (http://shop.sickmods.net/shop/LED_Faders/)). I know there is a tutorial for the deluxe version but has anyone used the smaller one. there are less solder points compared to the older version and i'd like to use that one as i've alrealy installed a soundboard under the wifi.

Also so i remember that there was a second 5v point on the psp mobo other than the one just below the speaker port, anybody have a clue where that was?

Thanks in advance

Its somewhere on the mobo to powerboard zif connector

I should start saving pics to make it easier to find this stuff lol

Ill do some searching

EDIT--
(https://acidmods.com/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi303.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fnn142%2FBlizzrad%2FMoboZIF3.jpg&hash=866dfa3b451bd914c4ff613f5d6d8f618cafd26e)

Edit-
About the fader, Only difference I can think about is the Deluxe can handle 20+ leds by default & the little one can only use 10 by default

And I don't think they are that much smaller

Good Luck

Jumbo, that is the same +5v power point as the one you use on the powerboard.

There is a pad which is +5 volts nearby, if you give me a close up of the motherboard near the zif connector I can point it out.

Sweet, nice one jumbo. that helps alot. now all i need is some info on the new fader board, fit my razor-x and my sick  :censored: psp can be born into the world.

Now that you mention it, i think i remember where that other point is. isn't it just beside the power port on the mobo next to the zif connection?

It isn't too hard.

Here I will help you:

PO - Positive Point on the Powerboard

SW - Notebutton
(if you want to control with notebutton - you would have to sever the trace first)

Otherwise, It would be : Sw ->  1 - 10k resistor  -> Tactile Switch -> Ground

L1 and L2 To negative of Leds, Could bridge pads together if you wish. Then connect positive of leds to a 5v Point Through resistor of appropriate value (preferably the motherboard 5v point)

Connect the + Pad to PO, or just connect the Powerboard Positive to +

And - to any ground.

Done

Cool, well then the slim fader board it is then. Thanks for all the help today Alien. in regards to the Sw ->  1 - 10k resistor  -> Tactile Switch -> Ground. i take it i could solder that wire to the wifi swich that already has a soundboard attached?

I don't quite understand, sorry.

It needs to be a tactile switch, but I might not have interpreted what you were saying right.

sorry, i mean instead of using a tactile swich, would it be possibal to use the wifi swich on the mobo, like you would with a sound reactive mod using a Im386 chip for example.

Yes you could use it as the ground.
But you also have to connect the SW pad to the - pad.
