Title: [PS3] [alman101] Blue Sky [finished]
Post by: alman101 on October 16, 2009, 03:35:45 PM: might as well get my post started, getting a stock controller hopefully soon, project name is iffy...

Plans so far:

"PS" button led
status (1234) smd swap
sickmods fader chip
a ton of leds spread throughout (will light up a room up)
on/off and lever switches

and a BRAND NEW MOD never seen done before...

Did some pre-mod trimming prep for some other mods, next will be drilling for side LEDs and then on to paint...

So everything is ready to be painted, will be ordering some LEDs tomo.

As of now there will be 22 LEDs on the sides (11 each handle), 4 LEDs in the buttons, and a PS button LED for a grand total of 27 LEDs, wiring will be fun in this one...

Post by: Blazinkaos on October 24, 2009, 11:16:15 PM: Alright well i was thinking for those buttons its a step more to do you can but the top of it into the button but not the sides and some how maybe fit some clear plexi glass or something of that size with a nice curve shape to that would give off more light reflection instead of the led it self its an idea but its up to you bro.

case is gonna be gloss white with gloss blue accent pieces (R1, R2, L1, L2, buttons) and then some kind of graphic or somthin

Krylon Fusion is the best paint for plastic around...

Post by: alman101 on October 26, 2009, 06:05:50 PM: Here in Canada and the US its a popular paint brand, I've used semi-gloss clear on my comp case and it turned out pretty good, but I have regular-gloss so well see how it goes. I test fitted the buttons, the PS, X and /\ buttons stick a bit, but the paint is still a bit sticky, the problem might go away in the morning when fully dry, hopefully...

Post by: alman101 on November 01, 2009, 05:34:32 AM: Meh I had around 75 LEDs left over from the other mod-off, cost me about $20 for 200 LEDs with shipping and crap from the UK. I spent $30 last week on the LEDs coming soon. there will be a RGB in the PS button instead of the blue one in now. Also might add one to shine the USB port, and then the 4 buttons, pretty much done after that. Last night took me 4 hours and glue and wire all 22 LEDs in the sides.

just waitin on Phenoptix and sickmods.net for the goods lol...

Post by: tomqman on November 01, 2009, 05:42:50 AM: i tried adding a charging led to my dualshock (on the usb slot) but the power from the usb made the led way to hot and kept melting the glue lol, nice looking pad alman ive been thinking for days how to mod my pad up higher to compete with you lol, im not bothered about the other console its a ps3 mod war to me

There will be no more updates till I recieve my LEDs from Phenoptix, or my chip from Sickmods.net

I hope they come here this week so I can finish this weekend...

Beautifully glowing, great colour/light balance. Creates great contrast on the 2 tone paint job, if you had graphics as you originally planned, it would look overwhelming.

Inexplicably amazing. Best controller I've ever seen.

But... thats not including the amount of current the actual controller requires.

Yes it does, and we are saying that he could have ordered a 7mm tact switch instead of using a button the size of the controller(exaggerated)

that wiring is rather messy... (in my view..)
you should try using a single core 30awg wire it's much easier to solder and its smaller so will fit in the controller better.....

That's an "old" PS3 Sixaxis controller. The newer ones are Sixaxis Dualshock 3, which are the ones with the rumble motors.

Slightly easier to disassemble, mind you.

Thats the place where the screw hole used to be, had to take it out to make room for the triangles green LED and its wires. Ya wish I knew that clearance issue before I painted. And ya the push button is ugly but I've since removed it. It is a dualshock3, took the rumble out cause there no room for it with the side LEDs everywhere in the handles. And personal preference I always take rumble out of DS3s, I played about a year with my original SIXAXIS controller and got used to not having my hands shake, plus the weight of the controller is stupid with the rumble out. If you took the rumbles out, you instantly take more than half the weight out, pretty much a feather now.

A few of the wires are 30AWG, but I ran out, all the handle wires are 30AWG, but the rest is 26AWG I believe

I used resistors to power my RGB and UV LEDs, lowered my voltage to 3.6 volts. Its the power straight from the battery, I can't remember exactly the voltage but I think it was 5volt. I'm unsure...
