Ok so here's my latest creation.
Internal 800mah AAAs - less capacity but allow the retaining of the rumblepacks. This shows the location of the batteries in the shell.

Trimming of the PCB to ease the fitting.

Location of the PIC socket (however I had to move it slightly on assembly due to it catching on the case)

PCB, batteries in the shell and rumbleshocks

And finally, tactile B button.

I like the X button lol
Its just a long tactile with the x drilled out and glued on but it does look good and it stays on the board when the shell is opened. One of the things I like about this mod is that its all tidy and doesn't require stuffing together when reassembling.

that looks good man, how much play time do you get with those AAA's
Ill be doing another controller similar to this when I find the right charger.

Pretty sweet creation, but that sucks it doesnt last that long.....

I highly doubt you will find AAA's with 1800mAh each... maybe he means 2 batterys 900mAh each.
I have used a 1000mAh CR123 battery to power my controller, keeping the rumble packs. it lasted a few hours before it needed to be charged again, but I didnt mind it.

hmmm id like to see someone test them with a multimeter, i think you will find the actual rating will probably be much lower. You don't really need those solder tabs, you can solder to the end of the battery just as easy.

Lets be honest, its easier and more reliable to use solder tags, however, as they are physically bigger I will swap them for the 3600 mAH batteries when they come.
Also I think the batteries in there at the moment will be fine though. The stock 360 pack lasts for a few days so this pack will last for at least a full day maybe more. If you plug the controller in between uses you'll never go flat and even if play non-stop for 2 days you could plug in while playing.

Keeps charging

cool mod.
you should use a wireless controller and make a charge pack using 4 AA size cells and smart charging circuit, and beat the life of M$ PnC pack.

The point of this mod for me is to remove the bulky pack from the bottom of the pad, giving it a sleeker look. Whilst you could do as you suggest and add an extra two batteries, you would then have 4.8 volts running through your controller.

I love this mod, very well done on the battery placement.
And just curious, does the d-pad feel weird at all where you've cut it?

That wouldnt be very good would it? lol try wiring it in series-parallel for 2.4V. ;)

Right, I've got a problem.
It isn't charging. I've just pulled the 'circuit' out of THIS (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=250661877964#ht_3010wt_914) hong kng charger.
The 'curcuit' is just a resistor then a zener diode then another resistor and i've connected it like below
(https://acidmods.com/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fv325%2Fradddogg%2FWirelessMatrixTopcharger-2.jpg&hash=b2245741babd9ed6f1b61299e37cdd4c6b4176e4)
Only thing I could think was I'd got the polarity wrong. The circuit is putting out 1.6v dc
Any ideas? :beg:

No, there is no difference. I had to glue the rubber to the pcb though as it would have moved if I hadn't

yo radd badass mod....did u get it to charge yet? id like to use this setup but im not gunna wire it to the mobo instead i wanna use it to power light mods
