Title: Arbiter 3.5.0.2 Rapid Fire Hell
Post by: martynmordecai on June 24, 2012, 11:00:26 AM
I have recently purchased an Arbiter 3.5.0.2 Rapid Fire Hell mod chip for my xbox controller.
Once i soldered everything up my "Y" and "LB" buttons did not work.

The controller i have is an "Old Matrix Wireless Board", can these mods work in this "old style" controller?

The only difference i can see when installing the mod is that the connections that allow you to press the "Y" button on the back of the controller are turned 90* from the rest of the button pads.

Any suggestion? Or Fixes?

Thanks

not many of todays rf kits support old matrix or even new martix boards due to missing components
i believe you can probably make it work but you might have to add extra components
ps can you take a pic of your install maybe you damaged the traces that go to the buttons that dont work more than liely thats what happen

well you may be connecting to the wrong side of the y and lb

but it may simply not work on the matrix controllers, because some things are switched(low high vs high low)

is there anyway of using the components on the mod to make it work on an old style controller?

To control buttons directly with the microchip, the controller must be the CG or CG2 style, the matrix cannot be directly controlled.  The only way to control the buttons on a matrix style controller is to use some type of switching mechanism, such as a solid state relay (SSR) or maybe and optocoupler (not sure if it is fast enough, or if it may or may not work for another reason).

the only way I can think of making it work is to flip the signal coming from the chip

something like 'could' fix the issue, but 1, it isnt guaranteed to work and 2 it would require you using wires and not the simple place and solder system that mod chip has

^^lol^^the mobo is not much better. I hate when people solder to the button pads like that.

You need to use the controller this mod was built for. If you continue down this path, you will more than likely end up with a ruined mod chip and or controller mobo.
